"Find me cards equivalent to: Primal Plasma"

Cards equivalent to Primal Plasma (blue, shapeshifter, modal-enter creature):
1. Primal Plasma — enters as your choice of 3/3, 2/2 flying, or 1/6 defender.
2. Primal Clay — original version, offers the same choices, colorless though, not blue.
3. Mistform Ultimus — always every creature type, but doesn’t have modal entry or stats choice.
4. Unstable Shapeshifter — blue, shapeshifts into any new creature that enters (not modal on entry).

Closest blue equivalents: Primal Plasma is unique for blue with modal entering stats; only close blue options are Unstable Shapeshifter (shapeshifts during the game) and tribal changelings like Mistform Ultimus for type, but none exactly match the modal aspect in blue. The original Primal Clay is the direct template, but it's colorless.

Short
Reason: No other blue creatures exist with exactly the same modal stat-changing ability and shapeshifter type as Primal Plasma.

  • The type “Illusion” is printed on the card’s type line purely for flavor. The Ultimus has every other creature type as well.

  • If an object enters the battlefield as a copy of Primal Clay, it copies the values determined by its enters-the-battlefield replacement effect, but its power and toughness are determined by the copy's own enters-the-battlefield replacement effect. This can cause you to have a 3/3 creature with flying, or a 1/6 creature with flying and defender, for example.
  • If an object on the battlefield becomes a copy of Primal Clay, it copies the values determined by its enters-the-battlefield replacement effect.
  • While not on the battlefield, Primal Clay is a 0/0 creature card. It doesn't have flying or defender.

    Rules

  • If a creature enters that has some characteristic or ability set when it enters, the copy does not get to make that choice (because it is not entering. All values are zero and all checks for choices consider the choice not to have been made.
  • If the creature has power/toughness that is continuously recalculated, so does this copy of it.
  • The copy effect is not targeted.
  • When it changes "shape" to a new creature, any "enters" abilities of the creature do not trigger.
  • If an Unstable Shapeshifter is on the battlefield when another Unstable Shapeshifter enters, the first one gets the second one's triggered ability, so it will copy the next creature that enters twice. It will only do so the next time a creature enters, because the second "becomes a copy" effect to resolve will erase the extra triggered ability.
  • The ability is granted as part of the copy effect, which means it will be removed by any effects that would remove abilities regardless of when the effect was created.
