"Find me cards equivalent to: Tishana's Tidebinder"

Equivalent cards to Tishana's Tidebinder (Mono-Blue, counter activated/triggered abilities, creature):
1. Disallow — Counters activated or triggered abilities (but is an instant, not a creature).
2. Stifle — Counters activated or triggered abilities (instant).
3. Trickbind — Counters activated or triggered abilities; those abilities can't be activated this turn (instant).

Closest creature example:

  • Venser, Shaper Savant — Flash, can return a spell or permanent to its owner's hand (not quite the same, but interacts on the stack).

Reason: No other mono-blue creatures currently counter activated/triggered abilities directly. The listed cards have similar stack interaction.

  • Abilities that create replacement effects, such as a permanent entering the battlefield tapped or with counters on it, can't be targeted. Abilities that apply "as [this creature] enters the battlefield" are also replacement effects and can't be targeted.
  • Activated abilities are written in the form "Cost: Effect." Some keyword abilities, such as equip and crew, are activated abilities and will have colons in their reminder texts.
  • An activated mana ability is one that could add mana as it resolves, doesn't have a target, and isn't a loyalty ability. A triggered mana ability is one that could add mana and triggers on an activated mana ability.
  • If you counter a delayed triggered ability that triggers at the beginning of the "next" occurrence of a specified step or phase, that ability won't trigger again the following time that phase or step occurs.
  • Triggered abilities use the word "when," "whenever," or "at." They're often written as "[Trigger condition], [effect]." Some keyword abilities, such as prowess and fabricate, are triggered abilities and will have "when," "whenever," or "at" in their reminder text.
  • There are many important moments in the story, but the most crucial—called "story spotlights"—are shown on cards. These cards have the Planeswalker symbol in their text box; this symbol has no effect on gameplay. You can read more about these events in the official Magic fiction at http://www.mtgstory.com.

  • An activated ability has a "Cost: Effect" format. Look for the colon. A triggered ability starts with "when", "whenever", or "at".
  • It can target delayed triggered abilities. For example, a card that says "Whenever a player cycles a card, you may exile target creature. If you do, return that creature to the battlefield at the beginning of the end step." triggers when a player cycles a card and creates a delayed trigger that happens at the beginning of the end step. You can choose to target the "at the beginning of the end step" trigger when it is placed on the stack at end of turn.
  • Turn-based actions and special actions like the normal card draw, combat damage, or turning a face-down creature face up can't be targeted.

    Rules

  • If Tishana's Tidebinder leaves the battlefield before its triggered ability resolves, the target activated or triggered ability will still be countered, but the source of the ability won't lose its abilities at all.
  • If the affected permanent gains an ability after Tishana's Tidebinder's effect begins to apply to it, it will keep that ability.
  • Tishana's Tidebinder's triggered ability checks to see if the source of the ability is an artifact, creature, or planeswalker as it resolves. If it isn't, it won't lose all abilities, even if it was an artifact, creature, or planeswalker when the ability was activated or when it triggered.

    Abilities/Keywords

    Rules

  • If Trickbind counters an activated ability of a permanent, no activated abilities of that permanent can be activated for the remainder of the turn. This includes activated abilities other than the one that was countered, as well as any mana abilities that permanent may have. Other abilities of that permanent, including triggered abilities and static abilities, are unaffected.
  • Trickbind can be used to counter the echo triggered ability. If so, the echo ability won’t trigger again so the echo cost is never paid.
  • Trickbind can be used to counter the flanking triggered ability.
  • Trickbind can be used to counter the madness triggered ability. The affected card will remain exiled.
  • Trickbind can be used to counter the storm triggered ability. Doing so prevents the copies from being created, but doesn’t counter the original storm spell.
  • Trickbind can be used to counter the suspend “remove a counter” ability. If so, the counter won’t get removed, but the ability will trigger again as normal later on. Trickbind can also be used to counter the suspend “play this card” ability. If so, the card stays exiled (the ability won’t trigger again). Using suspend to exile a card in your hand is neither an activated nor a triggered ability, so it can’t be countered this way.
  • Trickbind can’t counter or prevent paying the morph cost to turn a face-down creature face up, since that action doesn’t use the stack.
  • Activated abilities contain a colon. They’re generally written “[Cost]: [Effect].” Some keywords are activated abilities and will have colons in their reminder text.
  • After a spell with split second resolves (or otherwise leaves the stack), players may again cast spells and activate abilities before the next object on the stack resolves.
  • Casting a spell with split second won’t affect spells and abilities that are already on the stack.
  • If the resolution of a triggered ability involves casting a spell, that spell can’t be cast if a spell with split second is on the stack.
  • Players may turn face-down creatures face up while a spell with split second is on the stack.
  • Players still get priority while a card with split second is on the stack; their options are just limited to mana abilities and certain special actions.
  • Split second doesn’t stop triggered abilities from triggering, such as that of Chalice of the Void. If one does, its controller puts it on the stack and chooses targets for it, if any. Those abilities will resolve as normal.

If a permanent's ability is countered this way, activated abilities of that permanent can't be activated this turn. (Mana abilities can't be targeted.)

  • If Venser's triggered ability targets a spell cast with flashback, that spell will be exiled instead of returning to its owner's hand.
  • If a copy of a spell is returned to its owner's hand, it's moved there, then it will cease to exist as a state-based action. It can't be recast.
  • If a spell is returned to its owner's hand, it's removed from the stack and thus will not resolve. The spell isn't countered; it just no longer exists. This works against a spell that can't be countered.
