"Find me cards equivalent to: Vault 101: Birthday Party"

Equivalent cards (white Sagas or white cards that cheat Equipment/Auras onto the battlefield) include:

  • Vault 101: Birthday Party
  • Showdown of the Skalds
  • The Birth of Meletis (makes tokens, but doesn't cheat Equipment/Auras)
  • Elspeth Conquers Death (brings back a permanent from graveyard)
  • Replenish (returns all Auras to battlefield from graveyard)
  • Open the Armory (tutor for Aura/Equipment, doesn't cheat directly)
  • Stoneforge Mystic (puts Equipment onto battlefield, not a Saga/enchantment)

Closest direct equivalents are rare; most white Sagas like Showdown of the Skalds or Elspeth Conquers Death do only part of what Vault 101: Birthday Party does, not all. Cheating Equipment/Auras onto the battlefield is usually a single-card ability, not spread across a Saga.

  • A chapter ability doesn't trigger if a lore counter is put on a Saga that already had a number of lore counters greater than or equal to that chapter's number. For example, the third lore counter put on a Saga causes the III chapter ability to trigger, but I and II won't trigger again.
  • As a Saga enters the battlefield, its controller puts a lore counter on it. As your precombat main phase begins (immediately after your draw step), you put another lore counter on each Saga you control. Putting a lore counter on a Saga in either of these ways doesn't use the stack.
  • Each symbol on the left of a Saga's text box represents a chapter ability. A chapter ability is a triggered ability that triggers when a lore counter that is put on the Saga causes the number of lore counters on the Saga to become equal to or greater than the ability's chapter number. Chapter abilities are put onto the stack and may be responded to.
  • If a creature on the battlefield has {X} in its mana cost, X is considered to be 0.
  • If multiple chapter abilities trigger at the same time, their controller puts them on the stack in any order. If any of them require targets, those targets are chosen as you put the abilities on the stack, before any of those abilities resolve.
  • In a multiplayer game, if you leave the game after this Saga's second chapter ability resolves but before your next turn begins, its effect lasts until your next turn would have begun. It neither expires immediately nor lasts indefinitely.
  • Once a chapter ability has triggered, the ability on the stack won't be affected if the Saga gains or loses counters, or if it leaves the battlefield.
  • Once the number of lore counters on a Saga is greater than or equal to the greatest number among its chapter abilities, the Saga's controller sacrifices it as soon as its chapter ability has left the stack, most likely by resolving or being countered. This state-based action doesn't use the stack.
  • Removing lore counters won't cause a previous chapter ability to trigger. If lore counters are removed from a Saga, the appropriate chapter abilities will trigger again when the Saga receives lore counters.
  • The effect of the second chapter lasts until your next turn even if this Saga leaves the battlefield before then.
  • To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases (such as that of this Saga's second chapter), then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.
  • You choose which kind of counter to put on the returned permanent after it has entered the battlefield. You may put a +1/+1 counter on a planeswalker or a loyalty counter on a creature, but this isn't normally going to have any effect.

  • It determines what enchantments to return when its resolution starts. If more enchantments go to the graveyard during the resolution, those additional enchantments are ignored.
  • Auras can only be placed on permanents that were on the battlefield before this effect started to resolve. You can't put an enchantment onto the battlefield with Replenish and put an Aura that is also entering onto one of those enchantments.
  • You must return Auras if possible, even if this means enchanting an opponent's permanent with a good enchantment.

  • A chapter ability doesn’t trigger if a lore counter is put on a Saga that already had a number of lore counters greater than or equal to that chapter’s number. For example, the third lore counter put on a Saga causes the chapter III ability to trigger, but chapters I and II won’t trigger again.
  • Any cards you don’t play by the end of your next turn will remain exiled.
  • As a Saga enters the battlefield, its controller puts a lore counter on it. As your precombat main phase begins (immediately after your draw step), you put another lore counter on each Saga you control. Putting a lore counter on a Saga in either of these ways doesn’t use the stack.

  • Playing a card this way follows the normal rules for playing the card. You must pay its costs, and you must follow all applicable timing rules. For example, if one of the cards is a sorcery card, you can cast it only during your main phase while the stack is empty.
  • Removing lore counters won’t cause a previous chapter ability to trigger. If lore counters are removed from a Saga, the appropriate chapter abilities will trigger again when the Saga receives more lore counters.
  • The cards you exile because of the chapter I ability are exiled face up.
  • Under normal circumstances, you can play a land from among the exiled cards only if you haven’t played a land yet that turn.

  • An Aura put onto the battlefield this way doesn't target anything (so it could be attached to an opponent's permanent with hexproof, for example), but the Aura's enchant ability restricts what it can be attached to. If the Aura can't legally be attached to anything, you can't choose to put it onto the battlefield at all.
  • Food is an artifact type. Even though it appears on some creatures, it's never a creature type.
  • Whatever you do, don't eat the delicious cards.
  • You can't sacrifice a Food to pay multiple costs. For example, you can't sacrifice a Food token to activate its own ability and also to activate Maraleaf Rider's ability.
