"Find me cards equivalent to: Caustic Bronco"

Equivalent cards (black, similar attack trigger and life loss or draw):

  • Caustic Bronco (original card)
  • Midnight Reaper: Draws a card and loses life when another nontoken creature you control dies.
  • Grim Haruspex: Draws a card when another nontoken creature you control dies (no life loss).
  • Harvester of Souls: Draws a card (may lose life if opponent’s effects), when another non-token creature dies.
  • Kothophed, Soul Hoarder: Draws a card, loses 2 life when a creature dies.

Reason: All cards are black, creature type, and revolve around card draw and life loss, much like Caustic Bronco. Caustic Bronco is unique with Saddle and an attack trigger, but these cards follow similar design space.

    Saddle

    Rules

  • An ability that triggers when a creature “attacks while saddled” will trigger only if that creature was saddled when it was declared as an attacker.
  • Creatures with saddle can attack or block as normal even if they aren’t saddled.
  • If Caustic Bronco isn’t on the battlefield as its triggered ability resolves, use whether it was saddled or not before it left the battlefield to determine who loses life.
  • If a permanent becomes a copy of a saddled Mount, the copy won’t be saddled.
  • If the revealed card doesn’t have a mana cost (because it’s a land card, for example), its mana value is 0.
  • If the revealed card is a split card, that card’s mana value is based on the combined mana cost of its two halves.
  • If the revealed card’s mana cost includes {X}, X is 0 for the purpose of determining its mana value.
  • You may activate a permanent’s saddle ability even if that permanent is already saddled.
  • “Saddle N” means “Tap any number of other untapped creatures you control with total power N or greater: This permanent becomes saddled until end of turn. Activate only as a sorcery.”
  • “Saddled” isn’t an ability that a creature has. It’s just something true about that creature. It won’t stop being saddled until the turn ends or it leaves the battlefield.

Whenever this creature attacks, reveal the top card of your library and put it into your hand. You lose life equal to that card's mana value if this creature isn't saddled. Otherwise, each opponent loses that much life. Saddle 3 (Tap any number of other creatures you control with total power 3 or more: This Mount becomes saddled until end of turn. Saddle only as a sorcery.)

    Abilities/Keywords

    Morph

    Rules

  • A permanent that turns face up or face down changes characteristics but is otherwise the same permanent. Spells and abilities that were targeting that permanent, as well as Auras and Equipment that were attached to the permanent, aren't affected.
  • Any time you have priority, you may turn the face-down creature face up by revealing what its morph cost is and paying that cost. This is a special action. It doesn't use the stack and can't be responded to. Only a face-down permanent can be turned face up this way; a face-down spell cannot.
  • At any time, you can look at a face-down spell or permanent you control. You can't look at face-down spells or permanents you don't control unless an effect instructs you to do so.
  • Because the permanent is on the battlefield both before and after it's turned face up, turning a permanent face up doesn't cause any enters-the-battlefield abilities to trigger.
  • If a face-down permanent leaves the battlefield, you must reveal it. You must also reveal all face-down spells and permanents you control if you leave the game or if the game ends.
  • Morph lets you cast a card face down by paying {3}, and lets you turn the face-down permanent face up any time you have priority by paying its morph cost.
  • The face-down spell has no mana cost and has a mana value of 0. When you cast a face-down spell, put it on the stack face down so no other player knows what it is, and pay {3}. This is an alternative cost.
  • When the spell resolves, it enters the battlefield as a 2/2 creature with no name, mana cost, creature types, or abilities. It's colorless and has a mana value of 0. Other effects that apply to the creature can still grant it any of these characteristics.
  • You must ensure that your face-down spells and permanents can easily be differentiated from each other. You're not allowed to mix up the cards that represent them on the battlefield in order to confuse other players. The order they entered the battlefield should remain clear. Common methods for doing this include using markers or dice, or simply placing them in order on the battlefield.
