  • Chandra’s first ability uses the stack and can be responded to, even if no targets were chosen. It isn’t a mana ability.
  • Chandra’s last ability, by contrast, only allows you to cast spells that are red when you cast them, no matter what the card in exile is. If Rowan, Scholar of Sparks (a modal double-faced card) is exiled by this ability, you won’t be able to cast its back face, Will, Scholar of Frost, this way because it would be a blue spell.
  • Chandra’s second ability checks the characteristics of the card you exiled to see if it’s red. If the card is red, but the spell that card becomes somehow isn’t red, you may still cast it. For example, Rowan, Scholar of Sparks, the front face of a modal double-faced card, is red. Will, Scholar of Frost, the back face of the same card, is blue. In exile, that card is red, so you may cast either face if you exile it with this ability.
  • The emblem’s triggered ability looks for the actual amount of mana spent to cast the spell. If an effect caused you to pay more or less mana for that spell as you cast it, that will be taken into account when determining the value of X. If an effect would counter that spell unless you pay some amount of mana, that mana doesn’t count as mana spent to cast it.
  • You must pay all costs for spells cast via Chandra’s last two abilities. For the middle ability, you must also follow all timing restrictions.

  • Because you're casting the copies "without paying their mana costs," you can't pay any alternative costs for the copies. You can pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the copies have any mandatory additional costs, you must pay those.
  • If the copied card has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as its value when casting the copies.
  • If the first ability resolves but the damage is prevented or redirected, the target creature still won't be able to block that turn.
  • If you exile a land card using the second ability, you may play that land only if you have any available land plays. Normally, this means you can play the land only if you haven't played a land yet that turn.
  • In the third ability, "exiled this way" means the cards you just exiled because of that ability resolving. Cards exiled with the second ability or with previous activations of the third ability don't count.
  • The card exiled by the second ability is exiled face up. Playing it follows the normal rules for playing that card. You must pay its costs, and you must follow all applicable timing rules.     Rules

  • Activating Jaya's third loyalty ability creates a delayed triggered ability that will trigger each time you declare attackers this turn (usually, this will only happen once). This ability will trigger even if Jaya is no longer on the battlefield.   • Copies are created even if the spell that caused the ability to trigger has been countered by the time that ability resolves. The copies resolve before the original spell.
  • If the spell that's copied is modal (that is, it says "Choose one —" or the like), the copies will have the same mode or modes. You can't choose different ones.
  • The copies are created on the stack, so they're not "cast." Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won't trigger.
  • The copies will have the same targets as the spell it's copying unless you choose new ones. You may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. The new targets must be legal.
