"Find me cards equivalent to: Colfenor's Plans"

Equivalent cards to Colfenor's Plans (type: Enchantment, color: Black, with similar exile-and-cast mechanics and/or restrictions) are:
1. Spellweaver Volute — Also lets you cast exiled cards, but attaches to an instant in your graveyard.
2. Lich's Mastery — Powerful Black enchantment with extreme restrictions, but different exile play pattern.
3. Duskmantle Seer — Also Black, related to card advantage/disadvantage but not exile or enchantment type.

Closest functional B enchantments with exile-and-play:

  • Hostage Taker (creature, not enchantment, but lets you cast exiled cards)
  • Narset, Parter of Veils (not an enchantment but related draw restriction explorer)

In summary, Colfenor's Plans is very unique in Black enchantments combining exile, play-from-exile, and heavy restrictions. There are no direct Black enchantment equivalents, but Lich's Mastery is the closest restricting Black enchantment.

  • The cards put into hands this way are not “drawn.” For example, you couldn’t reveal a card with miracle put into your hand this way (but it also won’t count as the first card you’ve drawn this turn either).
  • The loss of life is simultaneous. If this causes both players to end up at 0 or less life, the game will be a draw. In a multiplayer game, players with 0 or less life will lose the game.

    Rules

  • Auras attached to the exiled permanent will be put into their owners' graveyards. Any Equipment will become unattached and remain on the battlefield. Any counters on the exiled permanent will cease to exist.
  • Hostage Taker has received errata to prevent it from targeting itself. The correct Oracle wording appears above.
  • If Hostage Taker leaves the battlefield before its triggered ability resolves, the target permanent won't be exiled.
  • If a token is exiled this way, it will cease to exist and won't return to the battlefield. You can't cast it.
  • If it's still in exile, the exiled card returns to the battlefield immediately after Hostage Taker leaves the battlefield. Nothing happens between the two events, including state-based actions.
  • In a multiplayer game, if Hostage Taker's owner leaves the game while the card is still exiled and another player owns that card, the exiled card will return to the battlefield under its owner's control. Because the one-shot effect that returns the card isn't an ability that goes on the stack, it won't cease to exist along with the leaving player's spells and abilities on the stack.
  • In a multiplayer game, if a player leaves the game, all cards that player owns leave as well. If you leave the game, any spell or permanent cards you control from Hostage Taker's ability are exiled.
  • Once you begin to cast the exiled card, it's considered a new object. You'll control that spell and the permanent that spell becomes even if Hostage Taker leaves the battlefield.

    Rules

  • If you run out of other permanents, cards in hand, and cards in graveyard, you’ll have to exile Lich’s Mastery itself and lose the game.
  • If you’re dealt more damage than you have cards to exile, you’ll just exile everything you can.
  • While you can’t lose the game, your opponents can still win the game if an effect says so.
  • While you control Lich’s Mastery, your life total still changes. Lich’s Mastery’s effects don’t replace the life gain or life loss.
  • You don’t have to exile all the cards from one place. For example, if a source deals 5 damage to you, you may exile one permanent, two cards from hand, and two cards from your graveyard.

    Rules

  • If an opponent hasn't drawn any cards in a turn and a spell or ability instructs that player to draw multiple cards, that player will just draw one card. However, if the draws are optional, the player can't choose to draw, even if they could draw one card this way.
  • Narset will "see" cards drawn by opponents earlier in the turn she entered the battlefield, although Narset can't affect cards drawn before she entered the battlefield. For example, if an opponent draws two cards, then Narset enters the battlefield, that opponent can't draw more cards that turn, but the two drawn cards are unaffected.
  • Replacement effects (such as that of Underrealm Lich or the first ability of Jace, Wielder of Mysteries) can't be used to replace draws that Narset disallows. However, if an opponent's first draw is replaced (by Underrealm Lich's ability, for example), that draw didn't happen and Narset won't stop the next draw (which may also be replaced by Underrealm Lich's ability).
  • Your opponents can each draw a maximum of one card each on each player's turn. Subsequent card draws during that turn are ignored.

    Enchant

    Rules

  • If the enchanted card changes zones (due to being cast with flashback, or being exiled with Cremate, for example), Spellweaver Volute "falls off" and is put into its owner's graveyard as a state-based action.
  • Say Spellweaver Volute's ability triggers, then Spellweaver Volute leaves the battlefield in response. Then the instant card that was enchanted is removed from the graveyard in response. When the Volute's ability resolves, it will check its last existence on the battlefield and identify the "enchanted card" as that instant card, so the card is copied and controller of the triggered ability may cast it.
  • Say Spellweaver Volute's ability triggers, then the enchanted instant card is exiled in response. Spellweaver Volute, which is now enchanting nothing, is put into its owner's graveyard as a state-based action. When the Volute's ability resolves, it will check its last existence on the battlefield and identify the "enchanted card" as "nothing," so no copy is created.
  • The Aura will be on the battlefield attached to a card in a different zone. The Aura won't be in the graveyard. The enchanted card won't be on the battlefield.
  • This Aura targets, and enchants, an instant card in a graveyard. This is the first Aura that enchants something that's neither a permanent nor a player.
  • When you cast a sorcery spell, Spellweaver Volute's ability triggers. It will make a copy of the enchanted card. The copy will exist in the graveyard. You'll have the option to cast the copy. If you don't, the copy remains in the graveyard and ceases to exist the next time state-based actions are checked. If you do cast the copy, the copy is cast from the graveyard. After you finish casting it, the enchanted card is exiled and you must choose a new instant card in a graveyard to attach Spellweaver Volute to. If you can't, Spellweaver Volute remains on the battlefield attached to nothing and is then put into the graveyard the next time state-based actions are checked.
