"Find me cards equivalent to: Disallow"

Equivalent cards to Disallow (blue, instant, similar effect):
1. Stifle – Counter target activated or triggered ability.
2. Voidslime – Counter target spell, activated ability, or triggered ability. (Requires blue and green)
3. Summary Dismissal – Exile all other spells and counter all abilities.
4. Subltlety – Can counter a spell or planeswalker for a temporary effect.

Notes: Pure blue with Disallow's exact effect is rare; Stifle only hits abilities, Voidslime is similar but not mono-blue. Summary Dismissal is broader but more expensive.

  • Abilities that create replacement effects, such as a permanent entering the battlefield tapped or with counters on it, can't be targeted. Abilities that apply "as [this creature] enters the battlefield" are also replacement effects and can't be targeted.
  • Activated abilities are written in the form "Cost: Effect." Some keyword abilities, such as equip and crew, are activated abilities and will have colons in their reminder texts.
  • An activated mana ability is one that could add mana as it resolves, doesn't have a target, and isn't a loyalty ability. A triggered mana ability is one that could add mana and triggers on an activated mana ability.
  • If you counter a delayed triggered ability that triggers at the beginning of the "next" occurrence of a specified step or phase, that ability won't trigger again the following time that phase or step occurs.
  • Triggered abilities use the word "when," "whenever," or "at." They're often written as "[Trigger condition], [effect]." Some keyword abilities, such as prowess and fabricate, are triggered abilities and will have "when," "whenever," or "at" in their reminder text.
  • There are many important moments in the story, but the most crucial—called "story spotlights"—are shown on cards. These cards have the Planeswalker symbol in their text box; this symbol has no effect on gameplay. You can read more about these events in the official Magic fiction at http://www.mtgstory.com.

  • An activated ability has a "Cost: Effect" format. Look for the colon. A triggered ability starts with "when", "whenever", or "at".
  • It can target delayed triggered abilities. For example, a card that says "Whenever a player cycles a card, you may exile target creature. If you do, return that creature to the battlefield at the beginning of the end step." triggers when a player cycles a card and creates a delayed trigger that happens at the beginning of the end step. You can choose to target the "at the beginning of the end step" trigger when it is placed on the stack at end of turn.
  • Turn-based actions and special actions like the normal card draw, combat damage, or turning a face-down creature face up can't be targeted.
