"Find me cards equivalent to: Dross Skullbomb"

Equivalent cards to Dross Skullbomb (Artifact, colorless, draw + black recursion ability):
1. Chromatic Star — {1}, Sac, draw a card. (No recursion, just draw/fix)
2. Chromatic Sphere — {1}, Sac, draw a card. (No recursion, just draw/fix)
3. Skullbomb cycle from Phyrexia: All Will Be One, e.g.:

  • Surgical Skullbomb — {1}, Sac: draw a card; {1}{U}, Sac: bounce creature, draw (blue ability)
  • Maze Skullbomb — {1}, Sac: draw a card; {2}{G}, Sac: pump + trample, draw (green ability)

Closest direct equivalent in mono-black:

  • Sanctum Gargoyle cycle in Esper colors offer recursion, but not as cleanly.
  • March of Reckless Joy offers card draw in red, but not similar.

No direct black/recursion equivalent in artifact form other than Dross Skullbomb. Closest are its cycle mates or simple draw artifacts.

Reason: Artifact-based black recursion plus cantrip is rare; other Skullbombs have similar templates for different effects.

  • Chromatic Sphere’s ability is not a mana ability. Players can respond to it, and it can’t be activated in the middle of paying for a cost. A recent update to rule 605.1a has made any abilities that move cards to or from libraries no longer mana abilities.

As an additional cost to cast this spell, you may exile any number of red cards from your hand. This spell costs less to cast for each card exiled this way. Exile the top X cards of your library. You may play up to two of those cards until the end of your next turn.

    Rules

  • The only difference between a colored artifact and a colorless artifact is, obviously, its color. Unlike most artifacts, a colored artifact requires colored mana to cast. Also unlike most artifacts, a colored artifact has a color in all zones. It will interact with cards that care about color. Other than that, a colored artifact behaves just like any other artifact. It will interact as normal with any card that cares about artifacts, such as Shatter or Arcbound Ravager.
