AI 🤖 Find me cards equivalent to: Infernal Kirin

Equivalents to Infernal Kirin (Black/Red Spirit with a discard trigger):

  • Shimatsu the Bloodcloaked (Red, Spirit, uses creatures for power, not discard, so loosely equivalent)
  • Kokusho, the Evening Star (Black, Dragon Spirit, triggers on death)
  • Gibbering Fiend (Red, causes discard on entry, not attack)
  • Vicious Rumors (Black, forces discard)

Closest in function: Nezumi Shortfang // Stabwhisker the Odious (Black, discard on tap).

Reason: No direct equivalents, but some cards force discard when creatures do something (like attack or tap). Most are mono-black or red. Infernal Kirin is quite unique.

  • Because you consider only the characteristics of a double-faced card's front face while it's not on the battlefield, the types of its back face won't be counted for delirium.
  • In some rare cases, you can have a token or a copy of a spell in your graveyard at the moment that an object's delirium ability counts the card types among cards in your graveyard, before that token or copy ceases to exist. Because tokens and copies of spells are not cards, even if they are copies of cards, their types will never be counted.
  • Most triggered delirium abilities use an intervening "if" clause. There must be four or more card types among cards in your graveyard in order for these abilities to trigger, otherwise they never trigger at all. There's no way to have the ability trigger if there aren't enough card types, even if you intend to raise that number in response to the triggered ability. The number of card types is checked again as the trigger resolves, and if it has become too low somehow, the ability does nothing. If which card types are in your graveyard changes but the quantity of card types stays the same (or increases), then the delirium triggered ability will still resolve.
  • The card types in Magic are artifact, battle, creature, enchantment, instant, kindred, land, planeswalker, and sorcery. Supertypes (such as legendary and basic) and subtypes (such as Human and Equipment) are not counted.
  • The number of card types matters, not the number of cards. For example, Wicker Witch (an artifact creature) along with Catalog (an instant) and Chaplain's Blessing (a sorcery) will enable delirium.

  • If the Spirit or Arcane spell has {X} in the mana cost, then you use the value of {X} on the stack. For example, Shining Shoal costs {X}{W}{W}. If you choose X = 2, then Shining Shoal's mana value is 4. Shining Shoal also has an ability that says "You may exile a white card with mana value X from your hand rather than pay Shining Shoal's mana cost"; if you choose to pay the alternative cost and exile a card with mana value 2, then X is 2 while Shining Shoal is on the stack and its mana value is 4.

  • As Vicious Rumors resolves, it deals 1 damage to each opponent, then the next opponent in turn order (or, if it’s an opponent’s turn, that opponent) chooses a card in hand without revealing it, then each other opponent in turn order does the same. Then the chosen cards are discarded at the same time. Next, each opponent puts the top card of their library into their graveyard at the same time. Finally, you gain 1 life.
  • In a Two-Headed Giant game, Vicious Rumors causes the opposing team to lose 2 life, each of those players discards a card and puts the top card of their library into their graveyard, and you gain 1 life.
