  • Effects that instruct your opponents to reveal or look at cards from the top of their libraries will still work. Only effects that use the word “search” are affected.
  • If Ashiok’s last ability targets an opponent, the cards put into their graveyard will be among the cards exiled by the ability. No player may take any actions between the time the cards are put into a graveyard and the time your opponents’ graveyards are all exiled.
  • If an effect says “Search your library . . . then shuffle your library,” your opponents shuffle their libraries even though they can’t search.
  • If an effect says “You may search your library . . . If you do, shuffle your library” or “You may search your library . . . then shuffle your library,” your opponents can’t choose to search, so they won’t shuffle.
  • Spells and abilities your opponents control may cause other players to search their libraries, and spells and abilities you control may cause your opponents to search their libraries.

    Rules

  • Any effect that exiles a card exiles it face up unless that effect specifies otherwise.
  • If Ashiok's second ability returns a token to its owner's hand, that player can't exile that token from their hand. They must exile a card from their hand if possible.
  • If a spell has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as the value of X when casting it without paying its mana cost.
  • If you cast a spell "without paying its mana cost," you can't choose to cast it for any alternative costs. You can, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, such as that of Thrill of Possibility, those must be paid to cast the card.
  • If you wish to cast any exiled cards, you do so as part of the resolution of Ashiok's last ability. You can't wait to cast them later. Timing permissions based on a card's type are ignored.
  • In a multiplayer game, if a player leaves the game, all cards that player owns leave as well. If you leave the game, any spells and/or permanents you control from Ashiok's last ability are exiled.
  • The card exiled while resolving Ashiok's second ability may be the one that was returned to its owner's hand.
  • You may cast any face-up cards your opponents own from exile while resolving Ashiok's last ability, not just those exiled by Ashiok's second ability or by Ashiok's Nightmare tokens.

−7 You may cast up to three spells from among face-up cards your opponents own from exile without paying their mana costs.

  • As Kaito Shizuki phases out, Auras attached to him also phase out at the same time. Those Auras will phase in at the same time Kaito does, and they'll phase in still attached to Kaito.
  • Permanents phase back in during their controller's untap step, immediately before that player untaps their permanents. Kaito phases back in with the same number of loyalty counters that he phased out with.
  • Phased out permanents are treated as though they don't exist. They can't be the target of spells or abilities, their static abilities have no effect on the game, their triggered abilities can't trigger, they can't attack or block, and so on.
  • Phasing out doesn't cause permanents to leave or re-enter the battlefield, so no "leaves the battlefield" or "enters the battlefield" abilities will trigger, and Kaito's first ability won't trigger again at the end of a turn in which he phased in.

  • If an opponent hasn't drawn any cards in a turn and a spell or ability instructs that player to draw multiple cards, that player will just draw one card. However, if the draws are optional, the player can't choose to draw, even if they could draw one card this way.
  • Narset will "see" cards drawn by opponents earlier in the turn she entered the battlefield, although Narset can't affect cards drawn before she entered the battlefield. For example, if an opponent draws two cards, then Narset enters the battlefield, that opponent can't draw more cards that turn, but the two drawn cards are unaffected.
  • Replacement effects (such as that of Underrealm Lich or the first ability of Jace, Wielder of Mysteries) can't be used to replace draws that Narset disallows. However, if an opponent's first draw is replaced (by Underrealm Lich's ability, for example), that draw didn't happen and Narset won't stop the next draw (which may also be replaced by Underrealm Lich's ability).
  • Your opponents can each draw a maximum of one card each on each player's turn. Subsequent card draws during that turn are ignored.

  • If Tezzeret's second loyalty ability causes a Vehicle to become an artifact creature, it doesn't count as "crewing" that Vehicle for any ability that would trigger off of a Vehicle becoming crewed.
  • If you activate Tezzeret's second loyalty ability targeting a Vehicle, it will have its printed power and toughness.
  • If you begin to activate an ability that costs mana before activating any mana abilities you need to pay for it, that ability will be the one to get Tezzeret's discount. The total cost for that ability becomes locked in, and then you can activate mana abilities to pay for it.
  • Tezzeret, Betrayer of Flesh's first ability reduces the cost of the first activated ability of an artifact that you begin to activate each turn. The second ability (and any subsequent abilities) of an artifact you activate that turn won't cost {2} less to activate, even if the first ability you activated didn't cost any mana to begin with. Notably, this does not exclude mana abilities.
