    Abilities/Keywords

    Devoid

    Rules

  • A card with devoid is just colorless. It's not colorless and the colors of mana in its mana cost.
  • An Eldrazi card is one with the creature type Eldrazi. Just having "Eldrazi" in its name or being an Eldrazi-themed card doesn't count.
  • Cards with devoid use frames that are variations of the transparent frame traditionally used for Eldrazi. The top part of the card features some color over a background based on the texture of the hedrons that once imprisoned the Eldrazi. This coloration is intended to aid deckbuilding and game play.
  • Devoid works in all zones, not just on the battlefield.
  • Eldrazi Scions are similar to Eldrazi Spawn, seen in the Zendikar block. Note that Eldrazi Scions are 1/1, not 0/1.
  • Eldrazi and Scion are each separate creature types. Anything that affects Eldrazi will affect these tokens, for example.
  • If a card loses devoid, it will still be colorless. This is because effects that change an object's color (like the one created by devoid) are considered before the object loses devoid.
  • Other cards and abilities can give a card with devoid color. If that happens, it's just the new color, not that color and colorless.
  • Sacrificing an Eldrazi Scion creature token to add {C} is a mana ability. It doesn't use the stack and can't be responded to.
  • Some instants and sorceries that create Eldrazi Scions require targets. If all targets for such a spell have become illegal by the time that spell tries to resolve, the spell won't resolve and none of its effects will happen. You won't get any Eldrazi Scions.

    Abilities/Keywords

    Devoid

    Rules

  • A card with devoid is just colorless. It's not colorless and the colors of mana in its mana cost.
  • Devoid doesn't affect the color identity of the card for the purposes of the Commander variant. For example, while Abstruse Appropriation is colorless because it has devoid, its color identity is still white and black, and it can't be included in a Commander deck where the commander's color identity doesn't include both white and black.
  • Devoid works in all zones, not just on the battlefield.
  • If a card loses devoid, it will still be colorless. This is because effects that change an object's color (like the one created by devoid) are considered before the object loses devoid.
  • If you cast a creature spell with {X} in its mana cost, use the value of X that was chosen when it was cast to determine its mana value.
  • Kozilek's Unsealing's triggered abilities trigger before the spell that causes it to trigger. The ability will resolve even if that spell is countered or otherwise leaves the stack.
  • Other cards and abilities can give a card with devoid a color. If that happens, it's just the new color, not that color and colorless.

    Rules

  • A "creature card" is any card with the type creature, even if it has other types such as artifact, enchantment, or land. Older cards of type summon are also creature cards.
  • If an opponent casts a spell, this ability triggers and is put on the stack on top of that spell. This ability will resolve (meaning that a revealed creature card will enter) before the spell resolves.
  • You must put the revealed card onto the battlefield if it's a creature card. If it's not a creature card and you don't put it on the bottom of your library, it stops being revealed and simply remains on top of your library.
