"Find me cards equivalent to: Necrotic Hex"

Equivalent cards to Necrotic Hex (black, sorcery, mass sacrifice, zombie tokens):

  • Grave Betrayal (though it's an enchantment and more expensive, it has a sacrifice/token payoff)
  • Army of the Damned (makes many tapped 2/2 zombie tokens; doesn't force sacrifice)
  • Necromantic Selection (each creature sacrificed, then one chosen returns as a zombie)
  • Decree of Pain (destroys all creatures, draw cards)
  • Long Reach of Night (saga, forces sacrifices, creates a zombie on chapter III)
  • Zombie Apocalypse (returns zombies, not a direct equivalent, but zombie synergy)

None are exact, but these are close for black, sorcery, with sacrifice and zombie token effects. Necrotic Hex is the closest for all three effects combined.

    Flashback

    Rules

  • "Flashback [cost]" means "You may cast this card from your graveyard by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost" and "If the flashback cost was paid, exile this card instead of putting it anywhere else any time it would leave the stack."
  • A spell cast using flashback will always be exiled afterward, whether it resolves, is countered, or leaves the stack in some other way.
  • If a card with flashback is put into your graveyard during your turn, you can cast it if it's legal to do so before any other player can take any actions.
  • To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a flashback cost) you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.
  • You can cast a spell using flashback even if it was somehow put into your graveyard without having been cast.
  • You must still follow any timing restrictions and permissions, including those based on the card's type. For instance, you can cast a sorcery using flashback only when you could normally cast a sorcery.

    Abilities/Keywords

    Cycling

    Rules

  • The cycling ability and the triggered ability are separate. If the triggered ability doesn't resolve (because, for example, it has been countered, or all of its targets have become illegal), the cycling ability will still resolve, and you'll draw a card.
  • When you cycle this card, first the cycling ability goes on the stack, then the triggered ability goes on the stack on top of it. The triggered ability will resolve before you draw a card from the cycling ability.

    Rules

  • Each creature you don't control that dies causes a delayed triggered ability to trigger at the beginning of the next end step. If there are multiple such abilities, you can put them on the stack in any order. The creatures will return to the battlefield one at a time as each ability resolves. The last ability you put on the stack will be the first one to resolve.
  • Grave Betrayal doesn't overwrite any previous colors or types. Rather, it adds another color and another creature type.
  • If a creature you don't control dies during the end step, that creature won't return to the battlefield until the beginning of the next end step.
  • If the creature card leaves the graveyard before the delayed triggered ability resolves, it won't return to the battlefield. This is also true if the card leaves the graveyard and returns to the graveyard before that ability resolves.
  • If the creature is normally colorless, it will simply be black. It won't be both black and colorless.
  • In a multiplayer game, if more than one player controls a Grave Betrayal and a creature controlled by none of those players dies, each Grave Betrayal will create a delayed triggered ability at the beginning of the next end step. The first such ability to resolve will return the creature. Usually, this will be one controlled by the player furthest from the active player in turn order.
  • The phrase "with an additional +1/+1 counter on it" means that the creature enters with one more +1/+1 counter than it would normally enter with. It doesn't keep any counters it had on it when it died.

    Rules

  • Let's say everyone controls lots of creatures. As Necrotc Hex resolves, first the player whose turn it is (likely you) chooses which six creatures they'll sacrifice, then each other player in turn order does the same, knowing the choices of players before them. Then all creatures are sacrificed simultaneously. Finally, you'll create the six tapped Zombies.
  • You'll create six tapped Zombies no matter how many creatures you sacrifice.
