AI 🤖 Find me cards equivalent to: Netherborn Altar

Equivalent cards to Netherborn Altar (black, commander-related, recursion/interchange with the command zone) are rare, but here are some similar black cards:
1. Command Beacon (colorless, but commander zone interaction)
2. Wishclaw Talisman (tutors any card to hand, similar utility)
3. Profane Transfusion (black, exchanges life totals, life manipulation theme)
4. Scheming Symmetry (black, tutoring effect)

Reason: Few black cards interact directly with the command zone, so I included functionally similar recursion, tutor, or life-for-resource exchange cards.

  • If you cast a commander from your hand, the additional cost based on the number of times you've cast it from your command zone (sometimes referred to as the "commander tax") doesn't apply. Additionally, that casting won't add to the tax if you later cast the commander from the command zone.
  • If your commander isn't in the command zone (or you're not playing Commander) as the last ability resolves, nothing happens.
  • If you have two commanders with the partner ability in the command zone, Command Beacon's effect puts one of your choice into your hand, not both.

  • If Netherborn Altar leaves the battlefield while its ability is on the stack, the amount of life you lose is determined by the number of soul counters it had on it immediately before it left the battlefield.
  • If you have two commanders in the command zone, Netherborn Altar’s ability puts one of your choice into your hand, not both.
  • If your commander isn’t in the command zone (or if you’re not playing the Commander variant), Netherborn Altar only makes you lose life.
  • Putting a soul counter onto Netherborn Altar is part of the cost to activate its ability, and counting the number of soul counters is done as the ability resolves. Players may take actions between those times to change the number of soul counters, perhaps by removing them all so that you lose no life.
  • The “commander tax” increases based on how many times a commander was cast from the command zone. Casting a commander from your hand doesn’t require that additional cost, and it doesn’t increase what the cost will be the next time you cast that commander from the command zone.

  • If a player can't gain life, that player can't exchange life totals with a player with a higher life total. Similarly, a player who can't lose life can't exchange life totals with a player with a lower life total.
  • Use the difference between the life totals after the exchange to determine the size of the Horror token. Because replacement effects can modify the life gain and life loss, this number may be different from what it was before the exchange.
  • When life totals are exchanged, each player gains or loses the amount of life necessary to equal the other player's life total. For example, if one player has 10 life and the other has 17 life, the first player gains 7 life and the other one loses 7 life. Replacement effects may modify these gains and losses, and triggered abilities may trigger on them.
