"Find me cards equivalent to: Nexus Mentality"

Equivalent cards (Instants, Blue, counters interaction):
1. Nexus Mentality (your requested card)
2. Stifle: Instantly interacts with abilities (blue, instant, similar utility role).
3. Reality Shift: Blue instant targeting permanents, but exiles instead (disrupts board state).
4. Vidalion Hexcatcher: While not an instant, it can counter spells by sacrificing creatures (blue utility).
5. Whim of Volrath: Moves counters, but only one at a time and not an instant.

Reason: No exact blue instant matches all of Nexus Mentality's effects. Closest equivalents either move counters, manipulate abilities, or interact with permanents in unique ways (see Stifle as a blue instant with versatile utility).

  • Once you've announced that you're casting a spell, players can't take any actions until you've finished doing so. Notably, opponents can't try to remove your commander to change how many modes you may choose.
  • Once you've chosen both modes for the spell, it doesn't matter whether you continue to control a commander. This is true even if you somehow no longer control a commander as you finish casting the spell.
  • The commander you control doesn't have to be your commander.
  • There's no extra bonus if you control more than one commander.
  • To move a counter from one permanent to another, the counter is removed from the first permanent and put onto the second. Any abilities that care about a counter being removed from or placed on a permanent will apply.

Choose one. If you control a commander as you cast this spell, you may choose both instead. • Move all counters from target nonland permanent you control onto another target nonland permanent you control. • Remove all counters from target nonland permanent you control. Draw a card for eachcounterremoved this way.

    Rules

  • A permanent that turns face up or face down changes characteristics but is otherwise the same permanent. Spells and abilities that were targeting that permanent, as well as Auras and Equipment that were attached to the permanent, aren't affected.
  • Any time you have priority, you may turn a manifested creature face up by revealing that it's a creature card (ignoring any copy effects or type-changing effects that might be applying to it) and paying its mana cost. This is a special action. It doesn't use the stack and can't be responded to.
  • At any time, you can look at a face-down permanent you control. You can't look at face-down permanents you don't control unless an effect allows you to or instructs you to.
  • Because face-down creatures don't have names, they can't have the same name as any other creature, even another face-down creature.
  • Because the permanent is on the battlefield both before and after it's turned face up, turning a permanent face up doesn't cause any enters-the-battlefield abilities to trigger.
  • If a double-faced card is manifested, it will be put onto the battlefield face down. While face down, it can't transform. If the front face of the card is a creature card, you can turn it face up by paying its mana cost. If you do, its front face will be up.
  • If a face-down permanent you control leaves the battlefield, you must reveal it. You must also reveal all face-down spells and permanents you control if you leave the game or if the game ends.
  • If a manifested creature would have morph if it were face up, you may also turn it face up by paying its morph cost.
  • The face-down permanent is a 2/2 creature with no name, mana cost, creature types, or abilities. It's colorless and has a mana value of 0. Other effects that apply to the permanent can still grant or change any of these characteristics.
  • There are no cards in the Fate Reforged set that would turn a face-down instant or sorcery card on the battlefield face up, but some older cards can try to do this. If something tries to turn a face-down instant or sorcery card on the battlefield face up, reveal that card to show all players it's an instant or sorcery card. The permanent remains on the battlefield face down. Abilities that trigger when a permanent turns face up won't trigger, because even though you revealed the card, it never turned face up.
  • Turning a permanent face up or face down doesn't change whether that permanent is tapped or untapped.
  • Unlike a face-down creature that was cast using the morph ability, a manifested creature may still be turned face up after it loses its abilities if it's a creature card.
  • You must ensure that your face-down spells and permanents can easily be differentiated from each other. You're not allowed to mix up the cards that represent them on the battlefield in order to confuse other players. The order they entered the battlefield should remain clear. Common methods for indicating this include using markers or dice, or simply placing them in order on the battlefield. You must also track how each became face down (manifested, cast face down using the morph ability, and so on).

Exile target creature. Its controller manifests the top card of their library. (That player puts the top card of their library onto the battlefield face down as a 2/2 creature. If it's a creature card, it can be turned face up any time for its mana cost.)

  • An activated ability has a "Cost: Effect" format. Look for the colon. A triggered ability starts with "when", "whenever", or "at".
  • It can target delayed triggered abilities. For example, a card that says "Whenever a player cycles a card, you may exile target creature. If you do, return that creature to the battlefield at the beginning of the end step." triggers when a player cycles a card and creates a delayed trigger that happens at the beginning of the end step. You can choose to target the "at the beginning of the end step" trigger when it is placed on the stack at end of turn.
  • Turn-based actions and special actions like the normal card draw, combat damage, or turning a face-down creature face up can't be targeted.

  • Alters all occurrences of the chosen word in the text box and the type line of the given card.
  • Can target a card with no appropriate words on it, or even one with no words at all.
  • It can be used to change a land’s type from one basic land type to another. For example, Forest can be changed to Island so it produces blue mana. It doesn’t change the name of any permanent.
  • It can’t change a word to the same word. It must be a different word.
  • It only changes what is printed on the card (or set on a token when it was created or set by a copy effect). It will not change any effects that are on the permanent.
  • You can’t change proper nouns (i.e. card names) such as “Island Fish Jasconius”.
  • You choose the words to change on resolution.

Buyback (You may pay an additional as you cast this spell. If you do, put this card into your hand as it resolves.) Change the text of target permanent by replacing all instances of one color word with another or one basic land type with another until end of turn. (For example, you may change "nonred creature" to "nongreen creature" or "plainswalk" to "swampwalk.")
