    Fight

    Rules

  • If the target creature is an illegal target when the reflexive triggered ability tries to resolve, the ability doesn't resolve. If the creature you put onto the battlefield is no longer on the battlefield or no longer a creature, the target creature won't deal or be dealt damage.
  • The reflexive triggered ability from Back for More is put onto the stack at the same time as any other triggered abilities caused by the creature entering the battlefield.
  • You don't choose a target creature you don't control at the time you cast Back for More. Rather, a "reflexive" ability triggers when you return the target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. You choose a target for that ability as it goes on the stack. Each player may respond to this triggered ability as normal. Notably, Back for More isn't a crime, but the reflexive triggered ability potentially is.

    Devoid

    Rules

  • A card with devoid is just colorless. It's not colorless and the colors of mana in its mana cost.
  • Devoid doesn't affect the color identity of the card for the purposes of the Commander variant. For example, while Abstruse Appropriation is colorless because it has devoid, its color identity is still white and black, and it can't be included in a Commander deck where the commander's color identity doesn't include both white and black.
  • Devoid works in all zones, not just on the battlefield.
  • If a card loses devoid, it will still be colorless. This is because effects that change an object's color (like the one created by devoid) are considered before the object loses devoid.
  • In the rare case where Path of Annihilation is an Eldrazi, it will grant itself the ability "{T}: Add one mana of any color."
  • Other cards and abilities can give a card with devoid a color. If that happens, it's just the new color, not that color and colorless.
  • Path of Annihilation's last ability resolves before the spell that causes it to trigger. The ability will resolve even if that spell is countered or otherwise leaves the stack.

    Abilities/Keywords

    Fight

    Rules

  • Each of the two creatures that fight deals damage equal to its power to the other. If either one of the creatures isn't on the battlefield when the ability that instructs them to fight resolves, no damage is dealt.
  • If a spell or ability allows you to cast a strive spell without paying its mana cost, you must pay the additional costs for any targets beyond the first.
  • If all of the spell's targets are illegal when the spell tries to resolve, it won't resolve and none of its effects will happen. If one or more of its targets are legal when it tries to resolve, the spell will resolve and affect only those legal targets. It will have no effect on any illegal targets.
  • If such a spell is copied, and the effect that copies the spell allows a player to choose new targets for the copy, the number of targets can't be changed. The player may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. If, for one of the targets, the player can't choose a new legal target, then it remains unchanged (even if the current target is illegal).
  • The mana cost and mana value of strive spells don't change no matter how many targets they have. Strive abilities affect only what you pay.
  • You choose how many targets each spell with a strive ability has and what those targets are as you cast it. It's legal to cast such a spell with no targets, although this is rarely a good idea. You can't choose the same target more than once for a single strive spell.
