  • An effect that instructs you to "cast" a card doesn't allow you to play lands.
  • Casting the card causes it to leave exile. You can't cast it multiple times.
  • Gonti doesn't change when you can cast the exiled card. For example, if you exile a creature card without flash, you can cast it only during your main phase when the stack is empty.
  • If you leave the game, the card remains exiled face down indefinitely. No player may look at it.
  • You may look at and cast that card (and spend mana as though it were mana of any type to do so) even if Gonti leaves the battlefield. If another player gains control of Gonti, that player can't look at or cast the card, and you still can.
  • You pay the costs for the exiled card if you cast it. You may pay alternative costs such as emerge rather than the card's mana cost.
  • The six types of mana are white, blue, black, red, green, and colorless. Snow mana is not a type of mana. Gonti, Lord of Luxury won't let you pay a snow cost using mana produced by a nonsnow source.

Deathtouch When Gonti enters, look at the top four cards of target opponent's library, exile one of them face down, then put the rest on the bottom of that library in a random order. You may cast that card for as long as it remains exiled, and mana of any type can be spent to cast that spell.

    Rules

  • If Raving Dead can't attack the chosen player for one of the above reasons but it can still attack elsewhere, you may choose to have it attack another player, attack a planeswalker, or not attack at all.
  • If your turn has multiple combat phases, Raving Dead's ability triggers at the beginning of each of them. Ignore any choices made during previous combat phases that turn.
  • If, as attackers are declared, Raving Dead is tapped, is affected by a spell or ability that says it can't attack, or hasn't been under your control continuously since your turn began (and doesn't have haste), then it doesn't attack. If there's a cost associated with having Raving Dead attack the chosen player, you aren't forced to pay that cost, so it doesn't have to attack that player in that case either.
  • Raving Dead must attack the chosen player if able, not a planeswalker controlled by that player.
  • The last ability triggers and resolves after combat damage has been dealt. For example, if an opponent has 17 life and Raving Dead deals 2 combat damage to them, they will end up at 8 life.

  • As soon as you start to cast Scourge of Nel Toth from your graveyard, it moves to the stack. At that point, it’s too late for an opponent to prevent you from casting it by removing it from your graveyard. It’s also too late for players to try to destroy the creatures you sacrifice to pay for the spell.
  • Casting Scourge of Nel Toth from your graveyard by paying the alternative cost doesn’t change when you can cast it. You can cast it only at the normal time you could cast a creature spell.
  • If you cast Scourge of Nel Toth from your graveyard, it is a spell and can be countered.
