"Find me cards equivalent to: Reflector Mage"

Equivalent cards to Reflector Mage (creature, U/W, bounce effect):
1. Deputy of Detention — ETB exile an opponent’s nonland permanent until it leaves the battlefield (creature, U/W).
2. Skyclave Apparition — Exiles nonland, nontoken permanents; good tempo play (creature, W/U).
3. Venser, Shaper Savant (blue) — ETB return target spell or permanent to owner’s hand (a bit similar but not white, still worth noting for blue decks).

Closest within U/W: Reflector Mage specifically combines the bounce and cast prevention, which is unique in U/W creatures. Nearby options mostly offer bounce (Mist Raven [U] or Exclusion Mage [U]) or exile (“Deputy of Detention”), but not both effects together.

Summary: Reflector Mage is unique, “Deputy of Detention” and “Skyclave Apparition” are your closest U/W replacements.

  • A face-down creature has no name, so it can't share a name with anything. This includes other creatures with no name.
  • Auras attached to the exiled permanents will be put into their owners' graveyards. Any Equipment will become unattached and remain on the battlefield. Any counters on the exiled permanents will cease to exist.
  • If Deputy of Detention leaves the battlefield before its triggered ability resolves, nothing is exiled.
  • If a token is exiled this way, it will cease to exist and won't return to the battlefield.
  • If the target nonland permanent is an illegal target by the time this ability tries to resolve, the ability doesn't resolve. Nothing is exiled.
  • This ability has only one target. The other permanents with that name aren't targeted. For example, a permanent with hexproof will be exiled if it has the same name as the target nonland permanent.
  • Unless a token is a copy of another permanent or was explicitly given a name by the effect that created it, its name is the subtypes it was given when it was created plus the word "Token." For example, if an effect creates a 1/1 Soldier creature token, that token is named "Soldier Token."

    Rules

  • If the returned creature had no name while it was on the battlefield (likely because the creature was face down), its owner can still cast face-down creature spells with morph or megamorph, or cast the same card face up, before your next turn.
  • In several cases, the name of the creature that was returned won’t match the name of that card once it’s back in its owner’s hand. For example, if the card was copying another creature, it will probably have a different name in its owner’s hand and can be cast again before your next turn. The same is true if a double-faced card with its back face up is returned to its owner’s hand this way.
  • Reflector Mage’s ability doesn’t stop any player from playing lands (in the case that the returned creature was also a land).

  • If Skyclave Apparition leaves the battlefield before its first ability resolves, the ability still exiles the target permanent.
  • If Skyclave Apparition's first ability exiled more than one card owned by a single player, that player creates a token with power and toughness equal to the sum of those cards' mana values. If the first ability exiled cards owned by more than one player, each of those players creates a token with power and toughness equal to the sum of the mana values of all cards exiled by the first ability.
  • If a creature on the battlefield has {X} in its mana cost, X is considered to be 0.
  • If there's no exiled card when Skyclave Apparition leaves the battlefield (most likely because its first ability hasn't resolved yet), no player creates a token.

    Rules

  • If Venser's triggered ability targets a spell cast with flashback, that spell will be exiled instead of returning to its owner's hand.
  • If a copy of a spell is returned to its owner's hand, it's moved there, then it will cease to exist as a state-based action. It can't be recast.
  • If a spell is returned to its owner's hand, it's removed from the stack and thus will not resolve. The spell isn't countered; it just no longer exists. This works against a spell that can't be countered.
