AI 🤖 Find me cards equivalent to: Reinterpret

Equivalent cards to Reinterpret (blue and red, instant, counterspell + cast for free):
1. Spelljack – Counters a spell, then you cast it for free (mono-blue, more expensive).
2. Covetous Urge – Not exactly since it steals from graveyard, not stack.
3. Mana Drain + Mind’s Desire (combination pseudo-equivalent in Izzet for ramp/cast).
4. Narset's Reversal – Returns a spell to hand, but you copy it and pick new targets (blue, close but doesn't counter).
5. Wild Ricochet – Copies and changes targets of an instant or sorcery (red, but doesn't counter).

Closest: Spelljack is the most directly similar, but only blue. No exact Izzet equivalent besides Reinterpret itself.

  • Casting an exiled card causes it to leave exile. You can't cast it multiple times.
  • Covetous Urge's effect doesn't change when you can cast the exiled card. For example, if you exile a sorcery card, you can cast it only during your main phase when the stack is empty.
  • If you cast an Adventure with Covetous Urge, it's you, not the card's owner, who may cast the creature later.
  • In a multiplayer game, if a player leaves the game, all cards that player owns leave as well. If you leave the game, the spell or permanent you control from Covetous Urge's effect is exiled.

Target opponent reveals their hand. You choose a nonland card from that player's graveyard or hand and exile it. You may cast that card for as long as it remains exiled, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast that spell.

  • If the target spell is an illegal target by the time Mana Drain tries to resolve, Mana Drain doesn't resolve. You don't add mana at the beginning of your next main phase. If the target is legal but not countered (most likely because an effect says that the spell can't be countered), you do add mana.
  • Mana Drain's delayed triggered ability will usually trigger at the beginning of your precombat main phase. However, if you cast Mana Drain during your precombat main phase or during your combat phase, its delayed triggered ability will trigger at the beginning of that turn's postcombat main phase.

  • If a copy of a spell is returned to its owner’s hand, it’s moved there, then it will cease to exist as a state-based action.
  • If a spell is returned to its owner’s hand, it’s removed from the stack and thus will not resolve. The spell isn’t countered; it just no longer exists. This works against a spell that can’t be countered.
  • If the spell has damage divided as it was cast, the division can’t be changed (although the targets receiving that damage still can). The same is true of spells that distribute counters.
  • If the spell that’s copied has an X whose value was determined as it was cast (like Finale of Promise does), the copy will have the same value of X.
  • If the spell that’s copied is modal (that is, it says “Choose one —” or the like), the copy will have the same mode. A different mode can’t be chosen.
  • If you copy a spell, you control the copy. Narset’s Reversal and the copy resolve before the original spell would have resolved.
  • Narset’s Reversal can copy any instant or sorcery spell, not just one with targets.
  • The controller of a copy can’t choose to pay any alternative or additional costs for the copy. However, effects based on any alternative or additional costs that were paid for the original spell are copied as though those same costs were paid for the copy.
  • The copy is created on the stack, so it’s not “cast.” Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won’t trigger.
  • The copy will have the same targets as the spell it’s copying unless you choose new ones. You may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. If, for one of the targets, you can’t choose a new legal target, then it remains unchanged (even if the current target is illegal).

  • If a spell with {X} in its mana cost is countered this way, {X} is the value chosen as the spell was cast.
  • If the spell you cast has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as the value of X.
  • If you cast a spell “without paying its mana cost,” you can’t pay any alternative costs. You can, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, you must pay those.
  • If you target a spell that can’t be countered, like Heated Debate, you won’t counter the spell, but you will get to cast a spell with an equal or lesser mana value.
  • This can be used to cast either face of a modal double-faced card, but only if the face you are casting has an equal or lesser mana value than the target spell.

  • If you cast an instant or sorcery, it goes to its owner’s graveyard when it resolves.
  • This spell can be used on a spell cast using Flashback.
  • If you use this on an opponent’s spell which has Buyback, you may pay the Buyback cost as you cast it. If you do so, the card will go to its owner’s hand upon resolution. It will not go to your hand, nor to any player’s graveyard.

Counter target spell. If that spell is countered this way, exile it instead of putting it into its owner's graveyard. You may play it without paying its mana cost for as long as it remains exiled. (If it has X in its mana cost, X is 0.)

    Rules

  • If the copy says that it affects "you," it affects the controller of the copy, not the controller of the original spell. Similarly, if the copy says that it affects an "opponent," it affects an opponent of the copy's controller, not an opponent of the original spell's controller.
  • If the spell Wild Ricochet copies has an X whose value was determined as it was cast (like Volcanic Geyser does), the copy has the same value of X.
  • If the spell Wild Ricochet copies is modal (that is, it says "Choose one —" or the like), the copy will have the same mode. You can't choose a different one.
  • The copy will have the same targets as the spell it's copying unless you choose new ones. You may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. If, for one of the targets, you can't choose a new legal target, then it remains unchanged (even if the current target is illegal).
  • When Wild Ricochet resolves, it creates a copy of a spell. You control the copy. The controller of the original spell retains control of that spell. The copy is created on the stack, so it's not "cast." Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won't trigger. The copy will then resolve like a normal spell, after players get a chance to cast spells and activate abilities. The copy resolves before the original spell.
  • Wild Ricochet can target (and copy) any instant or sorcery spell, not just one with targets. It doesn't matter who controls it.
  • You can't choose to pay any additional costs for the copy. However, effects based on any additional costs that were paid for the original spell are copied as though those same costs were paid for the copy too. For example, if a player sacrifices a 3/3 creature to cast Fling, and you copy it with Wild Ricochet, the copy of Fling will also deal 3 damage to its target.
