  • If multiple Quietus Spikes trigger at the same time, that player loses half their life when the first ability resolves, then loses half of the remainder when the next ability resolves, and so on. The player does not lose the same amount each time.

  • A player who has ten or more poison counters loses the game. This is a state-based action.
  • Activating the regeneration ability creates a replacement effect that acts like a shield, replacing the next time Skithiryx would be destroyed that turn. The shield works against effects that try to destroy Skithiryx or lethal damage that would be dealt to Skithiryx.
  • Damage from a source with infect is damage in all respects. If the source with infect also has lifelink, damage dealt by that source also causes its controller to gain that much life. Damage from a source with infect can be prevented or redirected. Abilities that trigger on damage being dealt will trigger if a source with infect deals damage, if appropriate.
  • Damage that a creature with infect deals doesn't result in damage being marked on a creature or a player losing life. Instead, it results in that many -1/-1 counters being put on that creature or that many poison counters being given to that player. Damage dealt to planeswalkers still results in that planeswalker losing that many loyalty counters. Damage dealt to battles still results in that battle losing that many defense counters.
  • If the regeneration shield is used, Skithiryx isn't destroyed, all damage marked on Skithiryx is healed, it becomes tapped, and it's removed from combat (if applicable).
  • Skithiryx can regenerate even if it isn't in combat, it's already tapped, or it's undamaged.
  • The -1/-1 counters remain on the creature indefinitely. They're not removed if the creature regenerates or the turn ends.

  • "Partner with [name]" represents two abilities. The first is a triggered ability: "When this permanent enters the battlefield, target player may search their library for a card named [name], reveal it, put it into their hand, then shuffle their library."
  • An effect that checks whether you control your commander is satisfied if you control one or both of your two commanders.
  • Both commanders start in the command zone, and the remaining 98 cards of your deck are shuffled to become your library.
  • If your Commander deck has two commanders, you can only include cards whose own color identities are also found in your commanders' combined color identities. If Khorvath and Sylvia are your commanders, your deck may contain cards with red and/or white in their color identity, but not blue, black, or green.
  • In a Two-Headed Giant game, a player's life total is the same as their team's life total.
  • Note that the target player searches their library (which may be affected by effects such as that of Stranglehold) and that the card they find is revealed, even though these words aren't included in the ability's reminder text.
  • Once the game begins, your two commanders are tracked separately. If you cast one, you won't have to pay an additional {2} the first time you cast the other. A player loses the game after having been dealt 21 damage from one of them, not from both of them combined. Command Beacon's effect puts one into your hand from the command zone, not both.
  • The second ability represented by the "partner with [name]" keyword modifies the rules for deck construction in the Commander variant and has no function outside of that variant. If a legendary creature card with "partner with [name]" is designated as your commander, the named legendary creature card can also be designated as your commander.   • The triggered ability of the "partner with" keyword still triggers in a Commander game. If your other commander has somehow ended up in your library, you can find it. You can also target another player who might have that card in their library.
  • To have two commanders, both must have the partner ability (featured in the Magic: The Gathering—Commander™ (2016 Edition) set) or corresponding "partner with" abilities as the game begins. A creature with a "partner with" ability can't partner with any creature other than its designated partner. Losing a partner ability during the game doesn't cause either to cease to be your commander.
