    Rules

  • Any effect that exiles a card exiles it face up unless that effect specifies otherwise.
  • If Ashiok's second ability returns a token to its owner's hand, that player can't exile that token from their hand. They must exile a card from their hand if possible.
  • If a spell has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as the value of X when casting it without paying its mana cost.
  • If you cast a spell "without paying its mana cost," you can't choose to cast it for any alternative costs. You can, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, such as that of Thrill of Possibility, those must be paid to cast the card.
  • If you wish to cast any exiled cards, you do so as part of the resolution of Ashiok's last ability. You can't wait to cast them later. Timing permissions based on a card's type are ignored.
  • In a multiplayer game, if a player leaves the game, all cards that player owns leave as well. If you leave the game, any spells and/or permanents you control from Ashiok's last ability are exiled.
  • The card exiled while resolving Ashiok's second ability may be the one that was returned to its owner's hand.
  • You may cast any face-up cards your opponents own from exile while resolving Ashiok's last ability, not just those exiled by Ashiok's second ability or by Ashiok's Nightmare tokens.

    Abilities/Keywords

    Flash

    Rules

  • A spell or ability that counters spells can still target spells with flash you cast. When that spell or ability resolves, your spell won't be countered, but any additional effects of the countering spell or ability will still happen.
  • Cunning Nightbonder's cost reduction applies only to generic mana in a spell's cost. It can't reduce a spell's colored mana requirements. For example, your first Cunning Nightbonder won't normally reduce the cost of your second since it has no generic mana in its cost.
  • Cunning Nightbonder's last ability doesn't apply to itself while it's a spell.
  • If Cunning Nightbonder enters the battlefield while a spell with flash that you cast is on the stack, that spell can't be countered, even though you don't get the {1} discount.
  • Players can't attempt to remove Cunning Nightbonder to raise the cost of a spell you wish to cast, but they can remove it to allow their spells and abilities to counter your spells.
  • Spells with flash that you control but didn't cast (perhaps because they're copies of a spell or because you took control of them from another player) can be countered.
  • To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions (such as that of Cunning Nightbonder). The mana value of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.

    Prowl

    Rules

  • To determine the value of X, this spell looks back over the course of the turn and counts all damage dealt by all sources to players who are currently your opponents, as well as damage dealt by all sources to players who were your opponents at the time they left the game.
  • Kindred is a card type that allows noncreature cards to have creature types. For example, Echoes of Eternity is an Eldrazi (although not a creature) while on the battlefield and an Eldrazi card (although not a creature card) in zones other than the battlefield.
  • This cards was originally printed with the "tribal" card type. That card type has been replaced with "kindred". This change does not affect the gameplay function of this card.
  • While it appears only on cards that already have other card types, kindred is a card type and will be counted by effects that refer to the number of card types among cards in a zone.

Prowl (You may cast this for its prowl cost if you dealt combat damage to a player this turn with a Rogue.) Create X 1/1 black Faerie Rogue creature tokens with flying, where X is the damage dealt to your opponents this turn. If this spell's prowl cost was paid, take an extra turn after this one.

    Rules

  • As the end step begins, Sygg’s ability checks whether a player who is currently your opponent, or a player who was your opponent at the time they left the game, has lost 3 or more life over the course of the turn. If so, the ability will trigger. If not, it won’t.
  • It doesn’t matter how the opponent lost life or who caused it, as long as the total loss of life is 3 or more.
  • Sygg’s ability checks only whether life was lost. It doesn’t care whether life was also gained. For example, if an opponent lost 4 life and gained 6 life during the turn, that player will have a higher life total than they started the turn with — but Sygg’s ability will trigger anyway.
  • Sygg’s ability checks to see if it triggers at the end of every turn. It doesn’t have to be your turn, and it doesn’t have to be the turn of the opponent that lost life.
  • Sygg’s ability will trigger even if Sygg wasn’t on the battlefield at the time some or all of the life was lost.
  • You don’t specify an opponent when the ability triggers. If multiple opponents have lost 3 or more life over the course of the turn, the ability will trigger only once.

    Landwalk

    Rules

  • If you don't play the card before the turn ends, it simply remains exiled.
  • The exiled card is played using the normal timing rules for an artifact, as well as any other applicable restrictions. For example, you can't play the card during your combat phase unless it has flash. Similarly, if the exiled card is an artifact land, you can't play it if you've already played a land that turn. If it's a nonland card, you'll have to pay its mana cost. The only thing that's different is you're playing it from the exile zone.
  • When the triggered ability resolves, you must search that player's library (and they must shuffle it) even if there are no artifact cards in it or you choose not to find one.

Islandwalk (This creature can't be blocked as long as defending player controls an Island.) Whenever Thada Adel deals combat damage to a player, search that player's library for an artifact card and exile it. Then that player shuffles. Until end of turn, you may play that card.

    Flash

    Rules

  • Although Zareth San is attacking, it was never declared as an attacking creature (for purposes of abilities that trigger whenever a creature attacks, for example).
  • Before blockers are declared, attacking Rogues are neither blocked nor unblocked, so you can't pay the cost to activate Zareth San's second ability.
  • If Zareth San leaves your hand before its second ability resolves, the ability does nothing as it resolves. Zareth San remains in its new zone and the Rogue you returned remains in its owner's hand.
  • If a creature in combat has first strike or double strike, you can activate Zareth San's second ability during the first-strike combat damage step. Zareth San will deal combat damage during the regular combat damage step in this case, even if it somehow gains first strike.
  • In a multiplayer game, if a player leaves the game, all cards that player owns leave as well. If you leave the game, any permanents you control from Zareth San's last ability are exiled.
  • To activate Zareth San's second ability, you reveal it in your hand. It remains revealed until the ability has resolved.
  • You choose which player or planeswalker Zareth San is attacking. It doesn't have to be attacking the same player or planeswalker that the returned Rogue was attacking.
  • Zareth San's second ability can be activated during the declare blockers step, combat damage step, or end of combat step. If you wait until after the declare blockers step, because all combat damage is dealt at once, Zareth San won't normally deal combat damage.
