  • All of the tokens enter the battlefield simultaneously. They’ll be created with the same name, color, type and subtype, abilities, power, toughness, and so on.
  • If an effect creates more than one kind of token, it’ll create twice as many of each kind. For example, if you cast Bestial Menace while controlling Anointed Procession, you’ll create two Snake tokens, two Wolf tokens, and two Elephant tokens.
  • If the effect creating the tokens instructs you to do something with those tokens at a later time, like exiling them at the end of combat, you’ll do that for all the tokens.
  • If the token you create has any “as [this permanent] enters the battlefield” or “[this permanent] enters the battlefield with” abilities, first determine how many tokens are being created, then apply those abilities individually for each one. For example, if a token with “You may have [this permanent] enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature on the battlefield” would be created (such as an embalmed Vizier of Many Faces), the resulting two tokens can each copy a different creature.
  • If you control two Anointed Processions, then the number of tokens created is four times the original number. If you control three, then the number of tokens created is eight times the original number, and so on.
  • There are many important moments in the story, but the most crucial—called “story spotlights”—are shown on cards.   • As an additional cost to cast a spell with gift, you can promise the listed gift to an opponent. That opponent is chosen as part of that additional cost. The gift isn't given at this time; rather, it's given at a later time based on whether or not the spell is a permanent spell.
  • For instants and sorceries with gift, the gift is given to the appropriate opponent as part of the resolution of the spell. This happens before any of the spell's other effects would take place.
  • For permanent spells with gift, an ability triggers when that permanent enters if the gift was promised. When that ability resolves, the gift is given to the appropriate opponent.
  • If a spell for which the gift was promised is countered, doesn't resolve (perhaps because all of its targets are illegal), or is otherwise removed from the stack, the gift won't be given. None of its other effects will happen either.

  • In the main set, there are four different kinds of gifts. "Gift a Food" causes the chosen opponent to create a Food token, while "Gift a Treasure" causes the chosen opponent to create a Treasure token. "Gift a card" causes them to draw a card, and "Gift a tapped Fish" causes them to create a tapped 1/1 blue Fish creature token. The Commander decks contain two more kinds of gifts: "Gift an Octopus," which causes the chosen opponent to create an 8/8 blue Octopus creature token, and "Gift an extra turn," which causes them to take an extra turn after the current turn ends.
  • Some instant or sorcery spells require alternative or additional targets if the gift was promised. You ignore these targeting requirements if the gifts aren't promised for those spells. On the other hand, you can promise a gift for a permanent spell even if you won't be able to choose targets for an enters ability of that permanent once the spell resolves.
  • You can't pay a gift cost more than once.

  • A permanent that enters tapped doesn't "become tapped." As such, if it has the ability granted by Dionus, that ability won't trigger.
  • Dionus's ability grants a triggered ability to itself as well as other Elves you control.
  • If Dionus leaves the battlefield and returns to the battlefield in the same turn, or if one Dionus leaves and another Dionus enters, the ability granted by the old one is different from the ability granted by the new one. This means that an Elf that already untapped and got a +1/+1 counter from the previous granted triggered ability could untap and get another +1/+1 counter from the new granted triggered ability if it becomes tapped again later that turn.
