"Find me cards equivalent to: Deal Broker"

Equivalent cards to Deal Broker (artifact creatures with colorless loot abilities):
1. Daredevil Dragster – {T}: Draw a card, discard a card. (Artifact Creature, colorless)
2. Scrap Trawler – Returns cards from graveyard, but not a looter.
3. Myr Mindservant – No loot ability.
4. Avarice Totem – Not a creature.

Closest is Deal Broker itself. The looting ability on a colorless artifact creature is very rare; Deal Broker is almost unique. Scaretiller is another colorless creature with a graveyard+draw effect, but not looting.

Summary: Only Deal Broker fits exactly. No true equivalents with loot on colorless artifact creatures.

  • It is possible to activate this ability in response to itself and generate some odd combinations. For example, if you control this card and another permanent, you can use this card’s ability and target the permanent you control. You can then use this card’s ability again and target a permanent your opponent controls. The second usage resolves first and you get your opponent’s permanent in exchange for this one. The first usage then resolves and swaps your other permanent for the Totem so you get it back. The net effect is that you can swap any non-land permanent you have for any of theirs if you can activate this ability twice. Note that your opponent does get the chance to use the Totem in between the resolutions of your two usages if they have the mana.

    Rules

  • If Daredevil Dragster doesn't survive the combat damage step, its ability won't trigger.
  • If Daredevil Dragster has one velocity counter on it and leaves the battlefield while its triggered ability is on the stack, it won't get a second velocity counter and you won't draw cards.
  • If Daredevil Dragster somehow has two velocity counters on it and leaves the battlefield while its triggered ability is on the stack, you'll draw two cards even though you can't sacrifice it.
  • If a second velocity counter is put on Daredevil Dragster by something other than the resolution of its triggered ability, you won't sacrifice it yet.
  • Any untapped creature you control can be tapped to pay a crew cost, even one that just came under your control.
  • Creatures that crew a Vehicle aren't attached to it or related in any other way. Effects that affect the Vehicle, such as by destroying it or giving it a +1/+1 counter, don't affect the creatures that crewed it.
  • Each Vehicle is printed with a power and toughness, but it's not a creature. If it becomes a creature (most likely through its crew ability), it will have that power and toughness.
  • For a Vehicle to be able to attack, it must be a creature as the declare attackers step begins, so the latest you can activate its crew ability to attack with it is during the beginning of combat step. For a Vehicle to be able to block, it must be a creature as the declare blockers step begins, so the latest you can activate its crew ability to block with it is during the declare attackers step. In either case, players may take actions after the crew ability resolves but before the Vehicle has been declared as an attacking or blocking creature.
  • If a permanent becomes a copy of a Vehicle, the copy won't be a creature, even if the Vehicle it's copying has become an artifact creature.
  • If an effect causes a Vehicle to become an artifact creature with a specified power and toughness, that effect overwrites the Vehicle's printed power and toughness.
  • Once a Vehicle becomes a creature, it behaves exactly like any other artifact creature. It can't attack unless you've controlled it continuously since your turn began, it can block if it's untapped, it can be tapped to pay a Vehicle's crew cost, and so on.
  • Once a player announces that they are activating a crew ability, no player may take other actions until the ability has been paid for. Notably, players can't try to stop the ability by changing a creature's power or by removing or tapping a creature.
  • Vehicle is an artifact type, not a creature type. A Vehicle that's crewed won't normally have any creature type.
  • When a Vehicle becomes a creature, that doesn't count as having a creature enter the battlefield. The permanent was already on the battlefield; it only changed its types. Abilities that trigger whenever a creature enters the battlefield won't trigger.
  • You may activate a crew ability of a Vehicle even if it's already an artifact creature. Doing so has no effect on the Vehicle. It doesn't change its power and toughness.
  • You may tap more creatures than necessary to activate a crew ability.

  • If a player exchanges a card that has multiple pieces of information noted for it, all of the information is shared during the exchange. For example, if you receive a Cogwork Tracker from a player who drafted multiple Cogwork Trackers, your Cogwork Trackers may attack any player noted by either you or the other player for Cogwork Tracker. The other player will not remove a noted player from their remaining Cogwork Tracker.
  • If either card involved in the exchange has any information noted for it, that information stays with the exchanged card, not the player who initially drafted it. Any abilities that refer to actions taken as you drafted the card (or similar) now refer to the card's new owner, even though that player wasn't the person who actually drafted the card.
  • If more than one player drafts a Deal Broker, players who wish to use the second ability to exchange cards do so in a random order.
  • If you accept a player's offer, the card you revealed becomes part of that player's card pool and the other offered card becomes part of your card pool.
  • If your draft is breaking up into multiple games, the exchange happens before it's known who will be playing in each game.
  • The cards exchanged this way aren't drafted. They can't be removed from the draft by Cogwork Grinder, for example.
  • When you use Deal Broker's second ability, after you reveal your card, each other player chooses up to one card from their card pool, then all those chosen cards are revealed simultaneously.
  • You may reveal Deal Broker itself for its second ability. If you do, and you accept another player's offer, that player won't be able to use the second ability to offer another exchange.

  • If Scaretiller becomes tapped while casting a spell or activating an ability, that spell or ability resolves after Scaretiller's triggered ability has resolved.
  • Neither mode of Scaretiller's ability counts as playing a land. It can put a land card onto the battlefield even if you've already played your land for the turn, and even if it's not your turn.
  • Scaretiller's ability is a triggered ability, not an activated ability. It doesn't allow you to tap it whenever you want; rather, you need some other way of tapping it, such as by attacking.

  • If Scrap Trawler and another artifact you control are put into a graveyard at the same time, Scrap Trawler's ability triggers for each of them.
  • If an artifact is a copy of another artifact with greater mana value, such as Sculpting Steel copying an artifact with mana value 4, Scrap Trawler's ability can target that artifact card in your graveyard when that artifact is put into your graveyard.
  • The target artifact card must have a lesser mana value than the artifact that caused Scrap Trawler's ability to trigger by being put into a graveyard. Use the artifact's mana value as it last existed on the battlefield to determine what may be returned.
