"Find me cards equivalent to: Exclusion Ritual"

Equivalent cards to Exclusion Ritual (White, Enchantment, locks out names):
1. Nevermore — Enchantment, White: When Nevermore enters, choose a nonland card name. Cards with the chosen name can't be cast.
2. Detention Sphere — Enchantment, White/Blue: Exiles a nonland permanent and all with the same name.
3. Banishing Light — Enchantment, White: Exiles a nonland permanent when it enters.
4. Oubliette — Not White (Black), but exiles a creature temporarily.

Closest in mono-white is Nevermore but note it only prevents casts, doesn’t exile. Banishing Light exiles like Exclusion Ritual but lacks the cast restriction. Exclusion Ritual is unique in combining both effects.

  • Auras attached to the exiled permanent will be put into their owners’ graveyards. Any Equipment will become unattached and remain on the battlefield. Any counters on the exiled permanent will cease to exist. When the card returns to the battlefield, it will be a new object with no connection to the card that was exiled.
  • If Banishing Light leaves the battlefield before its triggered ability resolves, the target permanent won’t be exiled.
  • If a token is exiled this way, it will cease to exist and won’t return to the battlefield.
  • If an Aura is exiled this way, its owner chooses what it will enchant as it returns to the battlefield. An Aura put onto the battlefield this way doesn’t target anything (so it could be attached to a permanent an opponent controls with hexproof, for example), but the Aura’s enchant ability restricts what it can be attached to. If the Aura can’t legally be attached to anything, it remains in exile for the rest of the game.

  • Although the target of the "enters" ability must not be a land, lands with the same name as that permanent will be exiled.
  • If Detention Sphere leaves the battlefield before its "enters" ability has resolved, its leaves-the-battlefield ability will trigger and do nothing. Then the "enters" ability will resolve and exile the targeted nonland permanent and other permanents with that name indefinitely.
  • If the target nonland permanent is an illegal target when the "enters" ability tries to resolve, it won't resolve and none of its effects will happen. No permanents will be exiled, including those with the same name as the target.
  • The "enters" ability has only one target. The other permanents with that name aren't targeted. For example, a permanent with protection from white will be exiled if it has the same name as the target nonland permanent.

When this enchantment enters, you may exile target nonland permanent not named Detention Sphere and all other permanents with the same name as that permanent. When this enchantment leaves the battlefield, return the exiled cards to the battlefield under their owner's control.

  • If the exiled card somehow leaves exile, the last ability will no longer have any effect.
  • In a Commander game, a player may put their commander in the command zone once exclusion ritual's triggered ability has finished resolving. If this happens, Exclusion Ritual's last ability will have no effect.

  • Although the named card can't be cast, it can still be put onto the battlefield by a spell or ability (if it's a permanent card).
  • No one can cast spells or activate abilities between the time a card is named and the time that Nevermore's ability starts to work.
  • Spells with the chosen name that somehow happen to already be on the stack when Nevermore enters are not affected by Nevermore's ability.
  • The named card can be cast again once Nevermore leaves the battlefield.
  • You can name either half of a split card, but not both. If you do so, that half (and both halves, if the split card has fuse) can't be cast. The other half is unaffected.
  • If you name one of the faces of a modal double-faced card, players may still play the face you didn't name. (Players can never cast the back face of a transforming double-faced card)

  • A creature phased out by Oubliette doesn't phase in during its controller's untap step as normal. Rather, it phases in immediately after Oubliette leaves the battlefield.
  • Abilities that trigger when a creature becomes tapped won't trigger when the creature phases in tapped.
  • Any continuous effects with a “for as long as” duration such as that of Awakener Druid ignore phased-out objects. Any such effects will expire if their conditions are no longer met after ignoring the phased-out objects.
  • Any one-shot effects that are waiting “until [this] leaves the battlefield,” such as that of Kitesail Freebooter, won't happen when a permanent phases out.
  • Choices made for permanents as they entered the battlefield are remembered when they phase in.
  • Each Aura and Equipment attached to a permanent that's phasing out also phases out. They will phase in with that permanent and still be attached to it. Similarly, permanents that phase out with counters phase in with those counters.
  • If Oubliette leaves the battlefield before its triggered ability resolves, the target creature won't be phased out or tapped.
  • Phasing out doesn't cause any “leaves the battlefield” abilities to trigger. Similarly, phasing in won't cause any “enters the battlefield” abilities to trigger.
  • While a permanent is phased out, it's treated as though it doesn't exist. It can't be the target of spells or abilities, its static abilities have no effect on the game, its triggered abilities can't trigger, it can't attack or block, and so on.
