"Find me cards equivalent to: Experimental Overload"

Equivalent cards to Experimental Overload (Red/Blue, Sorcery, creates token and returns instant/sorcery from graveyard):
1. Saheeli's Artistry (creates tokens, but copies a creature or artifact, does not return spell to hand).
2. Mizzix's Mastery (Red, returns and casts instants/sorceries from graveyard, no creature token).
3. Spellweaver Volute (Blue, attaches to instant in graveyard, re-casts spells, no token).
4. God-Eternal Kefnet (Blue, returns/copies instants/sorceries, not a sorcery, no token).

Best match for both effects (token and spell return in Izzet colors): Only Experimental Overload does both together in R/U sorcery. Closest are spells that do one side: “Saheeli’s Artistry” (tokens) and “Mizzix’s Mastery” (spell recursion).

Reason: Hybrid effects like Experimental Overload are rare in Izzet; most R/U cards do one or the other.

  • Because Experimental Overload is still on the stack while it's resolving, it doesn't count towards the value of X.
  • The value of X is determined only as Experimental Overload resolves. The Weird's power and toughness don't change if the number of instant and sorcery cards in your graveyard changes.
  • You exile Experimental Overload even if you don't return a card to your hand.

  • If an effect exiles the God and immediately returns it to the battlefield, its last ability triggers but will have no effect. However, if an effect exiles it and would return it to the battlefield at a later time, the God's ability may return that card to its owner's library first. If it does, the effect that exiled it won't return it later.
  • If an effect puts a card into your hand without using the word "draw," the card wasn't drawn.
  • If one of these Gods dies and it's your commander, you may put it into the command zone before its ability puts it into your library. If you save your commander this way, it won't put it into your library. The same is true if it would be exiled.
  • If one of these Gods leaves the graveyard or exile while its last ability is on the stack, it will remain in its new zone, even if that zone is a graveyard or exile.
  • If the God's owner has two or fewer cards in their library, the God is put on the bottom of their library as its last ability resolves.
  • If the card leaves your hand before Kefnet's triggered ability resolves, you'll copy it using its last known information.
  • If you control another player's God when it dies, you decide whether to put that card into its owner's library.
  • If you reveal a card this way, it remains revealed until Kefnet's triggered ability finishes resolving.
  • If you somehow control more than one God-Eternal Kefnet (perhaps because one is a Spark Double), you may reveal a card you draw for any number of their abilities. One at a time, each will copy the card if it's an instant or sorcery, and you may cast each of them. Each copy resolves before you cast the next, and each copy's cost is reduced by only {2}.
  • In a multiplayer game, if you put another player's God onto the battlefield under your control, it will be exiled as you leave the game. If you were still the controller of that God, you would control its triggered ability but you have left the game; that ability won't resolve and the card remains in exile. Similarly, if you lose the game at the same time that another player's God that you put onto the battlefield is destroyed, it remains in its owner's graveyard.
  • It's important to reveal the first card you draw each turn (or choose not to reveal it) before it is mixed with the other cards in your hand. You look at the card as you draw it before choosing whether to reveal it.
  • Multiple card draws are always treated as a sequence of individual card draws. For example, if you haven't drawn any cards yet during a turn and cast a spell that instructs you to draw three cards, you'll draw them one at a time. Only the first card drawn this way may be revealed and copied with Kefnet's ability.
  • The copy is created in and cast from your hand.
  • To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions (such as that of Kefnet's ability). The mana value of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.
  • You can cast the copy during the resolution of the triggered ability if it's a sorcery, no matter whose turn it is or which phase it is.
  • You can cast the copy only as Kefnet's triggered ability resolves. If you don't want to cast it at that time (or you can't cast it, perhaps because there are no legal targets available), the copy ceases to exist. You can't cast it later.
  • You can reveal and copy an instant or sorcery card this way on any turn, not just your own, if it's the first card you've drawn that turn.
  • You don't have to reveal a drawn card if you don't wish to copy it at that time.

Flying You may reveal the first card you draw each turn as you draw it. Whenever you reveal an instant or sorcery card this way, copy that card and you may cast the copy. That copy costs less to cast. When God-Eternal Kefnet dies or is put into exile from the battlefield, you may put it into its owner's library third from the top.

    Rules

  • If Mizzix's Mastery exiled multiple cards, you may cast the copies in any order. The last copy you cast will be the first one to resolve.
  • If the copy has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as the value of X.
  • If you cast a spell "without paying its mana cost," you can't pay any alternative costs. You can, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, you must pay those.
  • If you don't cast one of the copies (perhaps because there are no legal targets available or you don't want to), the copy will cease to exist.
  • Mizzix's Mastery is still on the stack as it resolves. If you pay the overload cost, Mizzix's Mastery won't copy itself.
  • The cards remain exiled no matter what happens to the copies.
  • The copies are created and cast during the resolution of Mizzix's Mastery. You can't wait to cast them later in the turn. Timing restrictions based on the copy's type are ignored. Other restrictions (such as "Cast [this spell] only during combat") are not.
  • Because a spell with overload doesn't target when its overload cost is paid, it may affect permanents with hexproof or with protection from the appropriate color.
  • If you are instructed to cast a spell with overload "without paying its mana cost," you can't choose to pay its overload cost instead.
  • If you don't pay the overload cost of a spell with overload, that spell will have a single target. If you pay the overload cost, the spell won't have any targets.
  • To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying (such as an overload cost), add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.

Exile target card that's an instant or sorcery from your graveyard. For each card exiled this way, copy it, and you may cast the copy without paying its mana cost. Exile Mizzix's Mastery. • Any abilities that trigger during the resolution of Saheeli's Artistry will wait to be put onto the stack until Saheeli's Artistry finishes resolving. An ability that triggers on the first token entering the battlefield may target the second token and vice versa.
  • Any enters-the-battlefield abilities of the copied permanent will trigger when the token enters the battlefield. Any “as [this permanent] enters the battlefield” or “[this permanent] enters the battlefield with” abilities of the chosen permanent will also work.
  • If the copied permanent has {X} in its mana cost, X is considered to be 0.
  • If the copied permanent is a token, the token created with Saheeli's Artistry copies the original characteristics of that token as stated by the effect that that created that token.
  • If the copied permanent is copying something else (for example, if the copied permanent is an Altered Ego), then the token enters the battlefield as whatever that permanent copied.
  • If you choose both modes, the tokens enter one at a time. Thus, if the token created by the second mode has an ability that triggers “whenever an artifact enters the battlefield,” the token created by the first mode will already be on the battlefield and won't cause that ability to trigger.
  • If you choose both modes, you may target a single artifact creature twice and get two copies of that artifact creature.
  • If you chose the second mode, the token is an artifact in addition to its other types. This is a copiable value of the token that other effects may copy.
  • The token copies exactly what was printed on the original permanent and nothing else (unless that permanent is copying something else or is a token; see below). It doesn't copy whether that permanent is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras and Equipment attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, or so on.

    Enchant

    Rules

  • If the enchanted card changes zones (due to being cast with flashback, or being exiled with Cremate, for example), Spellweaver Volute "falls off" and is put into its owner's graveyard as a state-based action.
  • Say Spellweaver Volute's ability triggers, then Spellweaver Volute leaves the battlefield in response. Then the instant card that was enchanted is removed from the graveyard in response. When the Volute's ability resolves, it will check its last existence on the battlefield and identify the "enchanted card" as that instant card, so the card is copied and controller of the triggered ability may cast it.
  • Say Spellweaver Volute's ability triggers, then the enchanted instant card is exiled in response. Spellweaver Volute, which is now enchanting nothing, is put into its owner's graveyard as a state-based action. When the Volute's ability resolves, it will check its last existence on the battlefield and identify the "enchanted card" as "nothing," so no copy is created.
  • The Aura will be on the battlefield attached to a card in a different zone. The Aura won't be in the graveyard. The enchanted card won't be on the battlefield.
  • This Aura targets, and enchants, an instant card in a graveyard. This is the first Aura that enchants something that's neither a permanent nor a player.
  • When you cast a sorcery spell, Spellweaver Volute's ability triggers. It will make a copy of the enchanted card. The copy will exist in the graveyard. You'll have the option to cast the copy. If you don't, the copy remains in the graveyard and ceases to exist the next time state-based actions are checked. If you do cast the copy, the copy is cast from the graveyard. After you finish casting it, the enchanted card is exiled and you must choose a new instant card in a graveyard to attach Spellweaver Volute to. If you can't, Spellweaver Volute remains on the battlefield attached to nothing and is then put into the graveyard the next time state-based actions are checked.
