    Flashback

    Rules

  • "Flashback [cost]" means "You may cast this card from your graveyard by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost" and "If the flashback cost was paid, exile this card instead of putting it anywhere else any time it would leave the stack."
  • A spell cast using flashback will always be exiled afterward, whether it resolves, is countered, or leaves the stack in some other way.
  • If a card with flashback is put into your graveyard during your turn, you can cast it if it's legal to do so before any other player can take any actions.
  • To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a flashback cost) you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.
  • You can cast a spell using flashback even if it was somehow put into your graveyard without having been cast.
  • You must still follow any timing restrictions and permissions, including those based on the card's type. For instance, you can cast a sorcery using flashback only when you could normally cast a sorcery.
  • Any “enters” triggered ability of the copied creature will trigger when the token enters the battlefield. Any “as [this creature] enters” or “[this creature] enters with” abilities of the chosen creature will also work.
  • If the copied creature has {X} in its mana cost, X is considered to be 0.
  • If the copied creature is a token, the token that’s created copies the original characteristics of that token as stated by the effect that created the token.
  • If the copied creature is copying something else, then the token enters the battlefield as whatever that creature copied.
  • The token copies exactly what was printed on the original creature and nothing else (unless that creature is copying something else or is a token; see below). It doesn’t copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras and Equipment attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, or so on.

  • If the copied creature has {X} in its mana cost, X is 0. This is also true when calculating the mana value of a creature on the battlefield in order to determine whether or not the creature is a legal target for this spell.
  • If the copied creature is a token, the new token that's created copies the original characteristics of that token as stated by the effect that created the token.
  • If the copied creature is copying something else, then the token enters as whatever that creature copied.
  • If the creature copied by the token had any "when [this creature] enters" abilities, the token also has those abilities, and they'll trigger when it's created. Similarly, any "as [this creature] enters" or "[this creature] enters with" abilities that the token has copied will also work.
  • The token copies exactly what was printed on the original creature (unless that creature is copying something else or is a token; see below). It doesn't copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or any Auras or Equipment attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its types, color, power and toughness, and so on.

  • A spell cast using jump-start will always be exiled afterward, whether it resolves, it's countered, or it leaves the stack in some other way.
  • Any enters-the-battlefield abilities of the copied creature will trigger when the token enters the battlefield. Any "As [this creature] enters the battlefield" or "[This creature] enters the battlefield with" abilities of the copied creature will also work.
  • If a card with jump-start is put into your graveyard during your turn, you'll be able to cast it right away if it's legal to do so, before an opponent can take any actions.
  • If an effect allows you to pay an alternative cost rather than a spell's mana cost, you may pay that alternative cost when you jump-start a spell. You'll still discard a card as an additional cost to cast it.
  • If the copied creature has {X} in its mana cost, X is 0.
  • If the copied creature is copying something else, the token enters the battlefield as whatever that creature is copying.
  • If the copied creature is itself a token, the token created by Quasiduplicate copies the original characteristics of that token as stated by the effect that created it.
  • The token copies exactly what is printed on the creature and nothing else (unless that creature is copying something else or is a token; see below). It doesn't copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras and/or Equipment attached to it, or any non-copy effects that changed its power, toughness, types, color, and so on.

    Rules

  • A copy of a spell is created on the stack, so it’s not “cast.” Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won’t trigger.
  • Any enters-the-battlefield abilities of the copied creature will trigger when the token enters the battlefield. Any “as [this creature] enters the battlefield” or “[this creature] enters the battlefield with” abilities of the copied creature will also work.
  • If the copied creature has {X} in its mana cost, X is 0.
  • If the copied creature is a token, the token that’s created copies the original characteristics of that token as stated by the effect that created that token.
  • If the copied creature is copying something else, then the token enters the battlefield as whatever that creature copied.
  • If the spell has damage divided as it was cast, the division can’t be changed (although the targets receiving that damage still can). The same is true of spells that distribute counters.
  • If the spell that’s copied has an X whose value was determined as it was cast, the copy will have the same value of X.
  • If the spell that’s copied is modal (that is, it includes a choice from a bulleted list of effects), the copy will have the same mode. A different mode can’t be chosen.
  • If you copy a spell, you control the copy. It will resolve before the original spell does.
  • Once you’ve cast See Double and legally chosen both modes, it doesn’t matter what happens to the number of cards in opponents’ graveyards.
  • The copy will have the same targets as the spell it’s copying unless you choose new ones. You may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. If, for one of the targets, you can’t choose a new legal target, then it remains unchanged (even if the current target is illegal).
  • The token copies exactly what was printed on the original creature and nothing else (unless that creature is copying something else or is a token; see below). It doesn’t copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras and Equipment attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, and so on.
  • You can’t choose to pay any alternative or additional costs for the copy of the spell. However, effects based on any alternative or additional costs that were paid for the original spell are copied as though those same costs were paid for the copy.
  • You may choose both modes if any opponent has eight or more cards in their graveyard, not necessarily all of them.

This spell can't be copied. Choose one. If an opponent has eight or more cards in their graveyard, you may choose both instead. • Copy target spell. You may choose new targets for the copy. (A copy of a permanent spell becomes a token.) • Create a token that's a copy of target creature.

  • If one of Spelltwine’s targets is illegal when Spelltwine tries to resolve, you’ll still exile and copy the remaining legal target.
  • If the card has X in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as its value.
  • If you cast a card “without paying its mana cost,” you can’t pay any alternative costs. You can pay additional costs such as kicker costs. If the card has mandatory additional costs, you must pay those.
  • Spelltwine has two targets: the instant or sorcery card in your graveyard and the one in an opponent’s graveyard. You can’t cast Spelltwine unless you can choose both legal targets.
  • The copies are created in exile and cast from exile. The cards remain exiled.
  • The copy you cast first will already be on the stack when you cast the other copy. If that spell targets a spell, you may choose the first copy as a legal target.
  • You can cast the copies in either order.

  • Creature tokens you exile this way will count toward the number of creature cards you put onto the battlefield.
  • If the number of creatures you exile is greater than the number of creature cards remaining in your library, you'll wind up revealing your entire library, putting all creature cards revealed that way onto the battlefield, then shuffling your library.
  • If you don't reveal any noncreature cards this way (perhaps because all the creature cards you needed were on top of your library), you still shuffle your library.
  • If you exile your commander as Synthetic Destiny resolves, you may not put it into the command zone until after Synthetic Destiny is finished resolving. It will still count toward the number of creature cards you put onto the battlefield.
  • The cards you exile will stay in exile. They're not part of the group you shuffle into your library.
  • The creature cards will enter the battlefield simultaneously.
