  • As Dualcaster Mage's triggered ability resolves, it creates a copy of a spell on the stack. The copy isn't cast, so abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won't trigger.
  • Dualcaster Mage's triggered ability can target (and copy) any instant or sorcery spell, not just one with targets. It doesn't matter who controls it.
  • If the copy says that it affects "you," it affects the controller of the copy, not the controller of the original spell. Similarly, if the copy says that it affects an "opponent," it affects an opponent of the copy's controller, not an opponent of the original spell's controller.
  • If the spell has an X whose value was determined as it was cast (like Earthquake does), the copy has the same value of X.
  • If the spell is modal (that is, it says "Choose one —" or the like), the copy will have the same mode. You can't choose a different one.
  • The copy will have the same targets as the spell it's copying unless you choose new ones. You may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. If, for one of the targets, you can't choose a new legal target, then it remains unchanged (even if the current target is illegal).
  • You can't choose to pay any additional costs for the copy. However, effects based on any additional or alternative costs paid for the targeted spell are copied as though those same costs were paid for the copy.

  • For spells that can have a variable number of targets, the controller of the copy must use the same number of targets the original spell did.
  • Fork does not let you make non-targeting choices about the spell.
  • Fork will not copy changes made by modifying effects to the spell prior to the use of Fork, such as text-changing effects.
  • Forking a spell with an X in the cost requires you to use the same X value.
  • If mana or other costs need to be spent at resolution of the spell, the player of Fork would still be responsible for paying that cost.
  • If the spell being copied targets a spell on the stack, it is possible to target Fork itself since Fork is still on the stack when you pick the target(s) for the copy. Note that the copy's target will be illegal when it resolves.
  • If you copy a spell for which Buyback has been paid, you get nothing back since the copied spell does not have a card to give you.
  • It does copy the mana symbols in the mana cost for the card it is copying, but it uses its own color definition and not the one from those mana symbols. This is so it maintains its color just like the text says.
  • The Fork card goes to the graveyard when it resolves and leaves the copy on the stack. There is no card representing the copy on the stack.
  • The copy that is placed on the stack is not considered to have been "cast".
  • When a spell with additional costs is copied, you don't have to pay those costs again.
  • You need not (and may not) pay any additional mana or other costs (like sacrifices) to use the spell which is Forked. You get control over a complete copy but can change nothing except the targets.
  • If you Fork a Spliced spell, the spliced text is added during the announcement of the original spell, and therefore is fully copied by Fork.
  • The copy will have the same mana cost as the original spell, but will be red rather than whatever color that mana cost would have made it.
  • If the targeted spell was kicked, then the copy will be kicked as well. If the targeted spell was not kicked, then the copy will not be kicked.

  • Each of the copies will have the same targets as the spell it's copying unless you choose new ones. You may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. If, for one of the targets, you can't choose a new legal target, then it remains unchanged (even if the current target is illegal). If there are two copies, you may change the targets of each of them to different legal targets.
  • If the spell Increasing Vengeance copies has an X whose value was determined as it was cast (like Earthquake does), the copy has the same value of X.
  • If the spell Increasing Vengeance copies is modal (that is, it says “Choose one —” or the like), the copies will have the same mode(s). You can't choose different ones.
  • Increasing Vengeance can target (and copy) any instant or sorcery spell you control, not just one with targets.
  • When Increasing Vengeance resolves, it creates one or two copies of a spell. You control each of the copies. Those copies are created on the stack, so they're not “cast.” Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won't trigger. The copies will then resolve like normal spells, after players get a chance to cast spells and activate abilities.
  • You can't choose to pay any additional costs for the copies. However, effects based on any additional costs that were paid for the original spell are copied as though those same costs were paid for the copies too. For example, if you sacrifice a 3/3 creature to cast Fling and then copy it with Increasing Vengeance, the copies of Fling will also deal 3 damage to its target.
  • A spell cast using flashback will always be exiled afterward, whether it resolves, is countered, or leaves the stack in some other way.
  • If a card with flashback is put into your graveyard during your turn, you can cast it if it's legal to do so before any other player can take any actions.
  • To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a flashback cost) you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.
  • You can cast a spell using flashback even if it was somehow put into your graveyard without having been cast.
  • You must still follow any timing restrictions and permissions, including those based on the card's type. For instance, you can cast a sorcery using flashback only when you could normally cast a sorcery.
  • “Flashback [cost]” means “You may cast this card from your graveyard by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost” and “If the flashback cost was paid, exile this card instead of putting it anywhere else any time it would leave the stack.”

  • A copy is created even if the spell cast with the red mana produced by Pyromancer's Goggles has been countered or otherwise left the stack without resolving by the time that ability resolves. The copy resolves before the original spell.
  • Any red instant or sorcery spell you spend the mana on will be copied, not just one that requires targets.
  • If more than one red mana produced by a Pyromancer's Goggles is spent to cast a single red instant or sorcery spell, the delayed triggered ability associated with each mana spent will trigger. That many copies will be created. It doesn't matter if this red mana was produced by one Pyromancer's Goggles or by multiple Pyromancer's Goggles.
  • If the copied spell has an X whose value was determined as it was cast, the copy has the same value of X.
  • If the copied spell is modal (that is, it says "Choose one –" or the like), the copy will have the same mode or modes. You can't choose a different one.
  • The copy is created on the stack, so it's not "cast." Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won't trigger.
  • The copy will have the same targets as the spell it's copying unless you choose new ones. You may change any number of the targets, including all of them or none of them. The new targets must be legal.
  • The delayed triggered ability will trigger whether Pyromancer's Goggles is still on the battlefield or not.
  • The mana produced by Pyromancer's Goggles can be spent on anything, not just a red instant or sorcery spell.
