"Find me cards equivalent to: Irini Sengir"

Equivalent cards to Irini Sengir in black that tax spells are:
1. Ethersworn Canonist – taxes nonartifact spells (but is white).
2. Gaddock Teeg – taxes noncreature spells (green/white, but not black).
3. Closest black card is Oppression – taxes spells by forcing discards, not mana.
4. Curse of Thalia’s Curse (if it existed) – would fit the asked effect but does not exist.

Best existing black option:

  • Irini Sengir remains unique for taxing enchantments.
  • Oppression (taxes by discard whenever a spell is cast, but not same mechanic).

No direct black equivalents taxing enchantments’ mana cost. Black usually taxes via life/loss/discard instead of mana for enchantments.

  • Each turn, each player can cast any number of artifact spells plus a maximum of one nonartifact spell.
  • Ethersworn Canonist takes into account spells that were cast earlier in the turn before Ethersworn Canonist entered the battlefield, including any spells that are somehow still on the stack. However, any spells on the stack as Ethersworn Canonist enters the battlefield have already been cast by that point, so they're not affected by it.

  • If one half of a split card has a mana value of 3 or less and doesn't have an {X} in its mana cost, Gaddock Teeg lets you cast that half.
  • A spell's mana value is determined only by its mana cost. Alternative costs (including casting a spell "without paying its mana cost"), additional costs, and cost reductions don't affect a spell's mana value.
