"Find me cards equivalent to: Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge"

Equivalent cards to Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge with type Legendary Creature — Vampire Wizard and colors {B}{R}{U} (Grixis) are very limited, but here are similar Grixis commanders that interact with spells or exile:
1. Kess, Dissident Mage

  • Lets you cast an instant or sorcery from your graveyard each turn.
    2. Nicol Bolas, the Ravager
  • Grixis legendary that cares about spells/disruption.
    3. Alesha, Who Smiles at Death
  • Grixis-adjacent with reanimation focus—less directly related.

Similars are rare, as Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge uniquely exiles and casts others’ spells for free. Kess, Dissident Mage is the closest in spellcasting power.

  • Alesha's triggered ability checks the card's power only in your graveyard. The creature will still be tapped and attacking if its power is greater than 2 after it's on the battlefield.
  • Although the returned creature is an attacking creature, it was never declared as an attacking creature. This means that abilities that trigger whenever a creature attacks won't trigger when it enters the battlefield attacking.
  • Any effects that say that the returned creature can't attack (such as that of Propaganda, or if the creature has defender) affect only the declaration of attackers. They won't stop the returned creature from entering the battlefield attacking.
  • While resolving Alesha's triggered ability, you can't pay the cost multiple times to return more than one creature card.
  • You choose which player or planeswalker the returned creature is attacking. It doesn't have to be attacking the same player or planeswalker Alesha is attacking.

  • If Jeleva leaves the battlefield, the exiled cards will remain exiled indefinitely. If Jeleva enters the battlefield again, it won't be associated with the cards the "other" Jeleva exiled. The new Jeleva will exile a new set of cards. Only those cards can be cast using Jeleva's last ability.
  • If the card has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as its value.
  • If you cast a card "without paying its mana cost," you can't pay alternative costs such as overload costs. However, you can pay additional costs such as kicker costs. If the card has mandatory additional costs, you must pay those.
  • If you cast an instant or sorcery card using Jeleva's last ability, you do so while that ability is resolving. If you choose not to (or you can't), you won't get a chance to cast it later unless the ability triggers again.
  • The card is cast before blocking creatures are declared.
  • When casting an instant or sorcery card this way, ignore all timing restrictions based on the card's type. Other timing restrictions, such as "Cast [this spell] only during combat," must be followed.
  • If Jeleva enters the battlefield without being cast, then no mana was spent to cast it. This means X will be 0, so no cards will be exiled.
  • The amount of mana you spent to cast this creature is usually equal to its mana value. However, you also include any additional costs you pay, including the cost imposed for casting your commander from the command zone.
  • You can't choose to pay extra mana to cast a creature spell unless something instructs you to.

Flying When Jeleva enters, each player exiles the top X cards of their library, where X is the amount of mana spent to cast Jeleva. Whenever Jeleva attacks, you may cast an instant or sorcery spell from among cards exiled with Jeleva without paying its mana cost.

  • If a sorcery card is put into your graveyard during your main phase and the stack is empty, you have a chance to cast it before any player may attempt to remove that card from your graveyard.
  • If a spell cast this way is put into another zone after it resolves (perhaps because it had buyback), it's considered a new object. If that card later moves to your graveyard, it won't be exiled.
  • If you cast a card from your graveyard using another permission (such as that of flashback), Kess's effect doesn't apply. You can cast another instant or sorcery card from your graveyard.
  • If you cast one instant or sorcery card from your graveyard and then have a new Kess come under your control in the same turn, you may cast another instant or sorcery card from your graveyard that turn.
  • Once you begin to cast the card, losing control of Kess won't affect the spell. You can finish casting it as normal and it will be exiled if it would be put into your graveyard.
  • You must follow the normal timing permissions and restrictions of the card you cast from your graveyard.
  • You must pay the costs to cast that card. If it has an alternative cost, you may cast it for that cost instead.
