"Find me cards equivalent to: Kaalia of the Vast"

Equivalent cards to Kaalia of the Vast (in Mardu colors: Black, Red, White) with similar effects—cheating big creatures into play via attack or similar—are:

  • Zurgo and Ojutai (lets you play a Dragon from your hand or graveyard tapped and attacking)
  • Jhoriah of the Ghitu (not Mardu, but similar sneak-attack style)
  • Adriana, Captain of the Guard (Mardu and cares about attacking, though no cheat-in effect)

No direct equivalents with that exact effect and colors, but Kaalia of the Vast is still unique for Angels, Demons, and Dragons in Mardu. Closest is Zurgo and Ojutai for Dragons.

    Melee

    Rules

  • Creatures that enter the battlefield attacking were never declared as attackers, so they won't count toward melee's effect. Similarly, if a creature with melee enters the battlefield attacking, melee won't trigger.
  • It doesn't matter how many creatures you attacked a player with, only that you attacked a player with at least one creature. For example, if you attack one player with Wings of the Guard and another player with five creatures, Wings of the Guard will get +2/+2 until end of turn.
  • Melee will trigger if the creature with melee attacks a planeswalker. However, the effect counts only opponents (and not planeswalkers) that you attacked with a creature when determining the bonus.
  • You determine the size of the bonus as the melee ability resolves. Count each opponent that you attacked with one or more creatures. It doesn't matter if the attacking creatures are still attacking or even if they are still on the battlefield. It also doesn't matter if the opponent you attacked is still in the game.

    Rules

  • Although the creature you put onto the battlefield is an attacking creature, it was never declared as an attacking creature. This means that abilities that trigger whenever a creature attacks won't trigger when it enters the battlefield attacking.
  • Any effects that say that the Angel, Demon, or Dragon creature can't attack (such as that of Propaganda or if the creature has defender) affect only the declaration of attackers. They won't stop the creature from entering the battlefield attacking.
  • If Kaalia attacks an opponent, the creature enters attacking that player even if Kaalia is somehow attacking a different player or planeswalker as its triggered ability resolves.
  • If the opponent Kaalia attacked is no longer in the game when its ability resolves, you may put an Angel, Demon, or Dragon creature card onto the battlefield tapped, but it won't be attacking anyone and it won't be an attacking creature.
  • Kaalia's ability doesn't trigger if it attacks a planeswalker or battle.

    Flying Haste

    Rules

  • Because creatures with first strike deal combat damage before creatures without first strike, it’s also possible to have the ability trigger twice in the same combat by your Dragons dealing combat damage to one player at different times. This can also happen if an attacking Dragon you control has double strike.
  • The triggered ability will trigger once for each player or battle dealt combat damage by Dragons you control, no matter how many Dragons were involved. For example, if you attack a player with three Dragons and a battle that player protects with two Dragons, and they all connect, the ability will trigger twice.
  • You choose whether to return one of the Dragons that dealt combat damage to the player or battle as the triggered ability is resolving. This doesn’t target any of those Dragons.

Flying, haste Zurgo and Ojutai has hexproof as long as it entered this turn. Whenever one or more Dragons you control deal combat damage to a player or battle, look at the top three cards of your library. Put one of them into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order. You may return one of those Dragons to its owner's hand.
