"Find me cards equivalent to: Leyline of the Void"

Equivalent cards to Leyline of the Void (black, enchantment, graveyard exile effects):
1. Leyline of the Void (original)
2. Rest in Peace (white, but similar, not black)
3. Planar Void (black, Enchantment, functionally similar: Whenever another card is put into a graveyard, exile that card.)
4. Dauthi Voidwalker (black, Creature, has similar graveyard exile effect, not an enchantment)
5. Ashes of the Abhorrent (white, not black)

Closest true equivalent is Planar Void, but with slightly different timing (exiles all graveyard cards, not just opponents'). Only Leyline of the Void has both the opening hand effect and exact text in black.

  • Activated abilities contain a colon. They’re generally written “[Cost]: [Effect].” Some keyword abilities (such as embalm from the Amonkhet set) are activated abilities and will have colons in their reminder text. Triggered abilities (starting with “when,” “whenever,” or “at”) are unaffected by Ashes of the Abhorrent.
  • Ashes of the Abhorrent doesn’t stop players from playing land cards from the graveyard if an effect allows them to do so.
  • If a creature dies at the same time that Ashes of the Abhorrent is destroyed, you’ll gain 1 life.

  • If a card has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as the value of X when casting it without paying its mana cost.
  • If an attacking creature has multiple evasion abilities, such as shadow and flying, a creature can block it only if that creature satisfies all of the appropriate evasion abilities.
  • If you cast a card this way, you may not cast it for any other alternative costs it has, but you may pay for additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the spell requires an additional cost, you must pay that cost.
  • If your opponent discards a card while you control Dauthi Voidwalker, abilities that function when that card is discarded still work, even though that card never reaches that player's graveyard. In addition, spells or abilities that check the characteristics of the discarded card can find that card in exile.
  • Playing a card with Dauthi Voidwalker's last ability is still subject to normal timing restrictions.
  • Tokens still die while Dauthi Voidwalker is on the battlefield.
  • While Dauthi Voidwalker is on the battlefield, nontoken creatures your opponents control won't die. They'll be exiled instead. Abilities that would trigger when those creatures die won't trigger.

  • A player's "opening hand" is the hand of cards the player has after all players have taken mulligans. If players have any cards in hand that allow actions to be taken with them from a player's opening hand, the starting player takes all such actions first in any order, followed by each other player in turn order. Then the first turn begins.
  • If your opponent discards a card while you control Leyline of the Void, abilities that check whether a card is discarded (such as Hollow One, or a madness ability of the discarded card) still work, even though that card never reaches that player's graveyard. In addition, spells or abilities that check the characteristics of the discarded card can find that card in exile.
  • Tokens can still die while Leyline of the Void is on the battlefield.
  • While Leyline of the Void is on the battlefield, nontoken creatures your opponents control won't die. They'll be exiled instead. Abilities that would trigger when those creatures die won't trigger.

  • If spell is used to destroy Planar Void, it goes to the graveyard, then the spell goes to the graveyard. The spell is not exiled, as Planar Void was not on the battlefield when it was put into the graveyard.
  • The card does go to the graveyard before it is exiled, so other triggered abilities will trigger on the card going to the graveyard.
  • It will not trigger on itself going to the graveyard, or on any other cards going to the graveyard at the same time. This means that neither itself nor other cards put into the graveyard at the same time as it will get exiled.

  • If Rest in Peace is destroyed by a spell, Rest in Peace will be exiled and then the spell will be put into its owner's graveyard.

In addition, spells or abilities that check the characteristics of a discarded card (such as Chandra Ablaze's first ability) can find that card in exile.
  • While Rest in Peace is on the battlefield, abilities that trigger whenever a creature dies won't trigger because cards and tokens are never put into a player's graveyard.
