    Abilities/Keywords

    Populate

    Rules

  • Although the token is an attacking creature, it was never declared as an attacking creature. This means that abilities that trigger whenever a creature attacks won't trigger when it enters the battlefield attacking.
  • Any effects that say that the token can't attack (such as that of Doomed Artisan, or if you copy a token with defender) affect only the declaration of attackers. They won't stop the token you populate from entering the battlefield attacking.
  • In some rare cases, you might copy a creature token that isn't normally a creature. This token enters the battlefield as a noncreature permanent. It will be tapped but it won't be attacking.
  • You choose which player or planeswalker the created token is attacking. It doesn't have to be attacking the same player or planeswalker that Ghired is attacking.
  • Any enters-the-battlefield abilities of the copied token will trigger when the new token enters the battlefield. Any "as [this creature] enters the battlefield" or "[this creature] enters the battlefield with" abilities of the copied token will also work.
  • If you choose to copy a creature token that's a copy of another creature, the new creature token will copy the characteristics of whatever the original token is copying.
  • If you control no creature tokens when you populate, nothing will happen.
  • Populate doesn't target the creature token you're copying. You choose that creature token as you're taking the populate action. You can choose any creature token you control. If a spell or ability causes you to create a creature token and then instructs you to populate, you may choose to copy the token you just created, or you may choose to copy another creature token you control.
  • The new creature token copies the characteristics of the original token as stated by the effect that created the original token.
  • The new token doesn't copy whether the original token is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras and Equipment attached to it, or any noncopy effects that have changed its power, toughness, color, and so on.

    Rules

  • Only Sand Warriors that are actually on the battlefield when Hazezon Tamar leaves the battlefield are affected when its second ability resolves. If Hazezon leaves the battlefield after the delayed triggered ability created by its first ability triggers but before that ability resolves, its second ability triggers and resolves first, then the Sand Warriors are put on the battlefield. Those Sand Warriors will remain on the battlefield indefinitely.
  • The first ability creates a delayed triggered ability that triggers at the beginning of your next upkeep. It doesn't matter who controls Hazezon Tamar at that time, or even if it's on the battlefield. The player who put Hazezon onto the battlefield gets the Sand Warriors.
  • When Hazezon Tamar's second ability resolves, all permanents with both the Sand and Warrior creature types are exiled, not just the Sand Warrior creature tokens it created. Permanents that have just one of those types are unaffected.

    Abilities/Keywords

    Goad

    Rules

  • Creatures that enter the battlefield after Marisi's second ability resolves won't be goaded.
  • If an effect allows or instructs an opponent to cast a spell during a combat phase, they can't do so. Marisi's restriction takes precedence over that permission.
  • In a multiplayer game, if you leave the game after Marisi's second ability resolves but before your next turn begins, its effect lasts until your next turn would have begun. It neither expires immediately nor lasts indefinitely.
  • Opponents can still activate abilities during combat.
  • The goaded creatures remain goaded even if Marisi leaves the battlefield before your next turn.
  • Attacking with a goaded creature doesn't cause it to stop being goaded. If there is an additional combat phase that turn, or if another player gains control of it before it stops being goaded, it must attack again if able.
  • Being goaded isn't an ability the creature has. Once it's been goaded, it must attack as detailed above even if it loses all abilities.
  • If a creature you control has been goaded by multiple opponents, it must attack one of your opponents that hasn't goaded it, as that fulfills the maximum number of goad requirements. If a creature you control has been goaded by each of your opponents, the creature must attack an opponent (rather than a planeswalker or battle), but you choose which opponent it attacks.
  • If the creature doesn't meet any of the above exceptions and can attack, it must attack a player other than the controller of the spell or ability that goaded it if able. If the creature can't attack any of those players but could otherwise attack, it must attack a planeswalker an opponent controls, a battle an opponent controls, or a player who goaded it.
  • If, during a player's declare attackers step, a creature that player controls that's been goaded is tapped, is affected by a spell or ability that says it can't attack, or hasn't been under that player's control continuously since the turn began (and doesn't have haste), then it doesn't attack. If there's a cost associated with having a creature attack a player, its controller isn't forced to pay that cost, so it doesn't have to attack that player.
