AI 🤖 Find me cards equivalent to: Search the City

Equivalent blue cards to Search the City (exile cards and cast for free, care about casting/exiling):

  • Djinn of Wishes (lets you exile and cast exiled cards from your library)
  • Precognition Field (lets you play the top card of your library if it's an instant or sorcery)
  • Future Sight (play with top card revealed, play it if it's a legal move)
  • Spellweaver Helix (exiles cards and casts them on trigger, though it's red-blue identity)

Reason:
They interact with exiling cards and/or casting them for free, fitting blue. Search the City is unique, but these are the closest equivalents.

  • If a spell has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as the value of X when casting it without paying its mana cost.
  • If the revealed card is a land, you can play it only if it's your turn and you haven't yet played a land this turn.
  • If you cast a spell "without paying its mana cost," you can't choose to cast it for any alternative costs. You can, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, such as that of Tormenting Voice, those must be paid to cast the card.
  • If you wish to play the exiled card, you must play it while the last ability of Djinn of Wishes is resolving. You can't play it later in the turn. A spell cast this way may be cast at a time you normally wouldn't be able to cast a spell of that type, but other restrictions (such as "Cast this spell only during combat") are enforced.

  • If the top card of your library changes while you're casting a spell, playing a land, or activating an ability (most likely because that top card is the card you're playing), the new top card won't be revealed until you finish doing so.
  • If the top card of your library is a land, you may play that land only if you have any available land plays.
  • The top card of your library isn't in your hand, so you can't suspend it, cycle it, or activate any of its abilities.
  • You must follow the normal timing permissions and restrictions for the top card of your library and pay its costs. If the card has alternative or additional costs, you may pay those. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, you must pay those.

    Rules

  • If the top card of your library changes while you’re casting a spell, playing a land, or activating an ability, you can’t look at the new top card until you finish doing so. This means that if you cast the top card of your library, you can’t look at the next one until you’re done paying for that spell.
  • Precognition Field lets you look at the top card of your library whenever you want (with one restriction—see below), even if you don’t have priority. This action doesn’t use the stack. Knowing what that card is becomes part of the information you have access to, just like you can look at the cards in your hand.
  • The card you’ll exile from the top of your library is determined as Precognition Field’s last ability resolves. This might not be the card that was on top of your library when you activated that ability.
  • The top card of your library isn’t in your hand, so you can’t cycle it, discard it, or activate any of its activated abilities.
  • You must follow the normal timing permissions and restrictions of the cards you play from your library.
  • You’ll still pay all costs for that spell, including additional costs. You may also pay alternative costs such as that granted by Jodah, Archmage Eternal.

  • If you don’t sacrifice Search the City, perhaps because it was destroyed in response to its ability triggering, you won’t take an extra turn.
  • To “play a card” is to play that card as a land or cast that card as a spell, whichever is appropriate.
  • You can put only one card into its owner’s hand for each card you play.

When this enchantment enters, exile the top five cards of your library. Whenever you play a card with the same name as one of the exiled cards, you may put one of those cards with that name into its owner's hand. Then if there are no cards exiled with this enchantment, sacrificeit. If you do, take an extra turn after this one.

    Abilities/Keywords

    Rules

  • If the imprinted card leaves the exile zone while the ability to make a copy is on the stack, then no copy will be made.
  • If this card leaves the battlefield while the ability to make a copy is on the stack, the ability will still make a copy using the last-known-information rule.
  • If the two imprinted sorcery cards have the same name and a card with that name is cast, only one copy is created, not two.
  • If there’s only one imprinted sorcery card, nothing happens.
  • If you don’t want to cast the copy, you can choose not to; the copy ceases to exist the next time state-based actions are checked.
  • Spellweaver Helix’s second ability creates a copy of the imprinted card in the Exile zone (that’s where the imprinted sorcery card is), then allows you to cast it without paying its mana cost.
  • You can’t cast the copy if an effect prevents you from casting sorceries or from casting that particular sorcery.
  • You can’t cast the copy unless all of its targets can be chosen.
  • You cast the copy while this ability is resolving, and still on the stack. Normally, you’re not allowed to cast spells or activate abilities at this time. Spellweaver Helix’s ability breaks this rule. (The card that triggered this ability is also still on the stack.)
  • You don’t pay the spell’s mana cost. If a spell has X in its mana cost, X is 0. You do pay any additional costs for that spell. You can’t use any alternative costs.
  • The creation of the copy and then the casting of the copy are both optional.
  • A split card has the same name as a spell if either of its names is that spell’s name.

Imprint — When this artifact enters, you may exile two target sorcery cards from a single graveyard. Whenever a player casts a card, if it has the same name as one of the cards exiled with this artifact, you may copy the other. If you do, you may cast the copy without paying its mana cost.
