"Find me cards equivalent to: Tyranid"

Equivalent cards to Tyranid (the creature type from the Warhammer 40k crossover) in terms of gameplay mechanics (giant creatures, +1/+1 counters, swarm themes) within green and blue are:

  • Hydra (e.g., Primordial Hydra) — big, gets +1/+1 counters
  • Simic Ascendancy — blue-green, cares about +1/+1 counters
  • Verdant Confluence — proliferate +1/+1 counters
  • Ravenous Slime — green, scalable size
  • Sharktocrab — blue-green, utilizes +1/+1 counters

These follow the Tyranid flavor: large creatures and +1/+1 counters, mostly in green and blue.

  • Consider only the number of +1/+1 counters on Primordial Hydra when determining if it has trample, not its power and toughness. For example, a Primordial Hydra with six +1/+1 counters on it that's been the target of Titanic Growth (giving it +4/+4) would not have trample.

    Rules

  • A token creature can die just like a nontoken creature before ceasing to exist. Ravenous Slime can replace this by exiling the token.
  • If Ravenous Slime dies at the same time as an opponent's creatures, the opponent's creatures are exiled.
  • If an opponent's commander would die, that player may choose to put it into the command zone from exile after Ravenous Slime's replacement effect has been applied and it has received the +1/+1 counters.
  • If more than one replacement effect tries to change where a dying creature ends up, that creature's controller chooses which effect applies. For example, if two players control a Ravenous Slime, a creature controlled by a third player will be exiled by the Ravenous Slime of that third player's choice, and the other Ravenous Slime won't get +1/+1 counters.
  • Once a creature with power 3 or greater has blocked this creature, changing the power of the blocking creature won't cause this creature to become unblocked.
  • The exiled creature's last known existence on the battlefield is checked to determine its power.

    Abilities/Keywords

    Adapt

    Rules

  • An ability that triggers when counters are put on a permanent will trigger if that permanent somehow enters the battlefield with those counters.
  • If a creature somehow loses all of its +1/+1 counters, it can adapt again and get more +1/+1 counters.
  • Sharktocrab's triggered ability can target a creature that's already tapped. That creature won't untap during its controller's next untap step.
  • You can always activate an ability that will cause a creature to adapt. As that ability resolves, if the creature has a +1/+1 counter on it for any reason, you simply won't put any +1/+1 counters on it.

  • If the last ability does trigger, but Simic Ascendancy leaves the battlefield, use the number of counters it had on it immediately before it left the battlefield to determine whether you win the game.
  • If the last ability does trigger, but counters are removed from Simic Ascendancy so it has fewer than twenty remaining on it, you won't win the game.

    Rules

  • If a Confluence is copied, the effect that creates the copy will usually allow you to choose new targets, but you can't choose new modes.
  • If a mode requires a target, you can select that mode only if there's a legal target available. Ignore the targeting requirements for modes you don't choose. Each time you select that mode, you can choose a different target, or you can choose the same target.
  • If all targets for the chosen modes become illegal before the Confluence resolves, the spell won't resolve and none of its effects will happen. If at least one target is still legal, the spell will resolve but will have no effect on any illegal targets.
  • No matter which combination of modes you choose, you always follow the instructions of a Confluence in the order they are written. If the same mode is chosen more than once, you choose their relative order as you cast the spell.
  • No player can cast spells or activate abilities in between the modes of a resolving spell.
  • You choose the modes as you cast the spell. Once modes are chosen, they can't be changed.
  • A permanent card is an artifact, battle, creature, enchantment, land, or planeswalker card.
