"Find me cards equivalent to: Wildest Dreams"
  • Wildest Dreams: Sorcery, Green, Return X cards from graveyard to hand, exile after.
  • Praetor's Counsel: Returns all cards from graveyard to hand, no exile, similar but stronger.
  • Seasons Past: Sorcery, Green, returns cards with different CMCs from graveyard to hand, shuffles itself into library.
  • Reap the Past: Sorcery, Green/Red, random selection, returns X cards from graveyard to hand.

All similar, but Wildest Dreams is unique for its exile clause and scalability.

  • If multiple effects modify your hand size, apply them in timestamp order. For example, if you put Null Profusion (an enchantment that says your maximum hand size is two) onto the battlefield and then resolve Praetor's Counsel, you have no maximum hand size. However, if those events happened in the opposite order, your maximum hand size would be two.
  • Later effects that modify your maximum hand size, but don't set it to a specific number, will have no effect.

    Rules

  • All players get to see which cards you chose at random as they’re returned to your hand.
  • If X is greater than or equal to the number of cards in your graveyard, you simply return your entire graveyard to your hand.
  • No player may take actions between the time the cards are chosen at random and the time they’re returned to your hand.
  • Reap the Past is still on the stack while you return cards to your hand, so it can’t return itself.
