  • If the spell being copied is modal (that is, it says “Choose one —” or the like), the copy will have the same mode. You can’t choose a different one.
  • If the top card of your library changes while you’re casting a spell, playing a land, or activating an ability, the new top card won’t be revealed until you finish doing so.

  • The top card of your library isn’t in your hand, so you can’t suspend it, cycle it, discard it, or activate any of its activated abilities.
  • When playing with the top card of your library revealed, if an effect tells you to draw several cards, reveal each one before you draw it.
  • When the last ability resolves, it creates a copy of the spell. You control the copy. That copy is created on the stack, so it’s not “cast.” Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won’t trigger. The copy will then resolve like a normal spell, after players get a chance to cast spells and activate abilities.
  • You still pay all costs for that spell, including additional costs. You may also pay alternative costs, such as overload costs. Although you can’t pay additional costs for the copy that’s created, effects based on any additional costs that were paid for the original spell are copied as though those same costs were paid for the copy too. For example, if a player sacrifices a 3/3 creature to cast Fling, and you copy it, the copy of Fling will also deal 3 damage to its target.

  • If an effect creates a copy of an instant or sorcery spell, this will also cause the magecraft ability to trigger.
  • If an effect creates multiple copies of an instant or sorcery spell, magecraft abilities trigger once for each copy created by the effect.
  • If you somehow control two Veyrans (which would be poetic), you casting an instant or sorcery spell causes abilities to trigger three times. A third Veyran (less poetic) causes abilities to trigger four times, and so on.
  • Some effects instruct you to copy an instant or sorcery card in a zone other than the stack. These copies do not cause magecraft abilities to trigger. However, most effects that do this also allow you to cast the copy, and casting the copy will cause magecraft abilities to trigger.
  • Veyran's effect doesn't copy the triggered ability; it just causes the ability to trigger again. Any choices you make as you put the ability on the stack, such as modes and targets, are made separately for each instance of the ability. Any choices made on resolution are also made individually.

  • As you make your choices for each other opponent, you can choose that opponent or any permanent they control, but if the chosen player or permanent isn't a legal target for the spell, the copy won't be created.
  • If instant or sorcery spell could have multiple targets but only one target is chosen as it is cast, that spell will cause Zevlor's delayed triggered ability to trigger. The copies will similarly have only one target. For example, if you cast Explosive Entry (“Destroy up to one target artifact. Put a +1/+1 counter on up to one target creature”) targeting only a creature, the copies can each legally target a single creature.
  • If the spell has an X whose value was determined as it was cast (like Fireball does), the copy has the same value of X.
  • If the spell is modal (that is, it has a bulleted list of choices), the copies will have the same mode(s). You can't choose different ones.
  • Like any spell, each copy will check to see if its target is still legal as it tries to resolve.
  • The delayed triggered ability can copy the spell that caused it to trigger even if that spell has been countered by the time that ability resolves.
  • When the delayed triggered ability of Zevlor, Elturel Exile resolves, it may create one or more copies of a spell. You control each of the copies. Those copies are created on the stack, so they're not “cast.” Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won't trigger. The copies will then resolve like normal spells, after players get a chance to cast spells and activate abilities.
  • You can't choose to pay any additional costs for the copies. However, effects based on any additional costs that were paid for the original spell are copied as though those same costs were paid for the copies too. For example, if you sacrifice a 3/3 creature to cast Fling and then copy it, each copy of Fling will also deal 3 damage to its target.
  • Zevlor, Elturel Exile has received an update to its Oracle text. The word “only” was inadvertently left off the printed card. The updated text is included above. Notably, an instant or sorcery spell with multiple targets will not cause the delayed triggered ability to trigger, even if only one of those targets is an opponent or an permanent an opponent controls.
